In times of olde, humans live in constant fear of demons known as yoma. These vicious creatures can take the appearance and memories of humans they have devoured, thus blending into society as they freely feast on human flesh. The key to stopping the yoma lies with the tolerated yet feared Claymores - women who are half-demon, half-human, and fully fated to become the demons that they hunt. Meanwhile, in a village, the young Raki has been banished; his only crime was losing his family to the yoma. Raki is drawn to a Claymore named Clare, and together their journey begins. While Clare fights the yoma plaguing the land, can Raki help her in her struggle to retain her humanity?
If you like atmospheric demon-horror with good characterisation and good plot as well as the fantastic action sequences, then these two are well matched. Saya and Clare both have internal struggles to resolve and both are silent, rational killers with depth beyond their sword-wielding skills. The animation in both anime is also excellent, with distinctive, detailed styles. Also, there should be a definite gore warning on both.
Both Blood and Claymore have heroines with unique abilities, fighting and slashing demons. These girls have to fight monsters outside and inside alike, as part of them wants to join the monsters in their bloodshed. The only thing keeping them together are their friends.
If, like me, you enjoy a good horror romp, packed full with demons, fighting and bucketfuls of blood, I think you will enjoy both Claymore and Blood: TLV.
Both fronted by a very strong (both physically and mentally), beautiful female lead, their story is immortalised in some beautiful animation with the promise of a second series for more action.
Claymore and Blood the Last Vampire each revolve around demons. The series are dark and twisted following the struggles of the main characters as they are exiled from the people around them.
As a young girl, Sawa is orphaned when both her parents are brutally murdered and is taken in by a police detective named Akai, who trains her to be a professional killer. He turns Sawa and Oburi, a young boy, into his puppets and makes them kill to fulfill his own sense of justice against child molesters and other harassing members of society.
Another great show about a female main character who causes lots of gore to the 'bad guys'. She uses a gun instead of a sword however. Very good movie!
Brutally violent and disturbingly real, Kite and Blood share the primary theme of a female protagonist being sent in by another authority to remove threats to humanity.
Kite and Blood the Last Vampire are both very short stories that feature plenty of violence as well as two female protagonists who slaughter their opponents without much hesitation. Both storylines are very dark and ominous, and while Kite is on the more explicit (aka "Border-line Hentai) side of things, they remain pretty similar to each other. Recommended for people who enjoyed one of them, and for those of you who do not wish to waste much time.
Dante works as a demon hunter for the office of Devil May Cry, and as he is always in debt he doesn't have the luxury to turn down jobs as long as they pay well. His latest assignment is to be a bodyguard for the young Patty Lowe while she receives her inheritance. During the mission he was able to defeat the demons that got in his way and deliver Patty safely, but upon completion of the mission Dante discovers that Patty will be staying with him – indefinitely! Now, Dante must not only hunt demons and coexist peacefully with other hunters, but also handle the responsibility of taking care of a little girl!
Blood is a subdued, subtle, and disturbing anime, but if you liked the style of vampire conflict portrayed, then you may enjoy Devil May Cry's demon analogue.
Both of these anime involve protagonists that hunt their own kind, dishing out well animated punishment with extra helpings of blood and dismemberment. But Devil May Cry is episodic and has cartoony and humorous elements, while Blood the Last Vampire is a short film dense with action-horror. They both are worth watching for fans of dark anime.
Both Devil May Cry and Blood The Last VAmpier tell a story of sombody who fights with demons but also with his own weaknesses. What is more both show also a story of main characters companions. Even the ending is quite simillar but i won't tell what will happend.
In a hunt cannibalistic sense (without the eating part) Blood the Last Vampire and Devil May Cry are on the same level, both of the protagonists have to hunt their own kind and be one step ahead of them to survive.
With a past shrouded in mystery and a blank memory, Shiki Tohno seems to be just another "average high school student". That is, until he nearly kills a female vampire with his secret deadly ability to "see the lines". His journey to unlock the secrets of the Tohno family and unbury his own lost memories has only just begun, and now he must also help the woman, Arcueid Brunestud, find a lethal phantom named Roa, and kill it using his ability.
If you liked Blood: The Last Vampire then you could see Shingetsutan Tsukihime. In both series the main charachters is running around killing evil creatures (Vampires). Blood: The Last Vampire is much darker than Shingetsutan Tsukihime. In Blood: The Last Vampire the girl knows who she is and fighting the evil just because she has to, in Shingetsutan Tsukihime he fights the evil not knowing really way, he just know that he has to do it. In Shingetsutan Tsukihime they have more powers than in Blood: The Last Vampire.
The same feeling runs through Lunar Legend Tsukihime and Blood the Last Vampire. The main characters strive to kill vampires that are attacking everyone.
Legend tells of a lone swordsman who lives in the Demon's Castle, the ruins near the Black Forest. This mysterious stranger only accepts rare books for his services, books from the ancient past. Comedy tells the story of a young girl who desperately wishes for her family and village to be saved from the coming English soldiers' wrath, and is willing to trade a precious book in exchange for the deed. With only her legs beneath her, she runs towards the Black Forest, hoping to get there in time...
Blood and Comedy are both two very short, yet beautiful and innovative animes that will take your breath away. Stunning animation, and an interesting plot (as much as can be expected) are prevalent in both. I definitely think if you like one, you'll like the other.
Another short work from Production I.G that shows how good a show can be intense and well done without the need to explain a single question: adrenalinic, filled with action and packed with fights, both of these shows allow the viewer to enjoy a dark, gothic in its own way, choking atmosphere without the need to have your brain wondering what is happening and why: you simply need to watch it, no further fatigue is required.
In three words: pathos instead of thought.
