Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied

Blood, twisted story, great emotion, and a hint of PTSD going on here. Very similar in the approach of how the truth of the past comes haunting back.  Great suspense.

scizorg45 scizorg45 says...

Both of these anime have one thing in common: There's a lot of dismemberment and blood splattering around. Both of these anime try to back this up with a story, but in my opinion, don't really try their hardest to do so. So if you're in for a load of gore, check these out. Otherwise, leave them be.

If you liked one, check out the other.

If you like the gore and action in Blood-c and Elfen Lied then you will definetly like the other. Both have inhumane things trying to act humane. And in a sense both Nyu aka Lucy and Saya are being put thru a test of who they really are

Jdogtoocool Jdogtoocool says...

I agree, both Blood C and Elfen Lied share a lot of similarities. From the suspense to the gore, if you're into that genre then you're going to get exactly what you wanted. In my opinion Elfen Leid is the better anime overall so look into it if you just got done with Blood C. If you liked one I'm sure you'll love the other.

Both of these feature a young woman who has a somewhat split personality, half clutsy, half skillful killer. Both also feature ceatures that aren't human, even if they sometimes have human features. If you liked the blood and gore of one, check out the other

Another and Blood-C are two horror titles in which a small community (class in Another) seemingly start to die by a supernatural cause, until everything goes completely wrong and out of control. They can both get pretty bloody, and if you want to watch them, I suggest you wait for the DVD release or else you'll be seeing a lot of censoring!

chii chii says...

Do you like anime about bad things happening to school kids? Then look no further! These two shows have plenty of mystery and horror surrounded by many deaths! Blood-C adds in some monsters where Another is about freak accidents but both shows are a perfect match if you are looking for awesome gore.

AirCommodore AirCommodore says...

Both of these anime are dumb as bricks, but let's face it- you're watching for the gore, not the story. And these two certainly deliver with the gore. There's no shortage of blood, limbs, and people dying in horrifying ways. Additionally, both were directed by the same person, so they have a similar pacing and progression.

Gavia Gavia says...

Both are horror shows with plenty of gore and some supernatural elements, taking place in mostly a school setting.

hamletsmage hamletsmage says...

You're a few episodes in, thinking, "it's been creepy, but nothing blatantly gory... And then it happens, the first school girl dies in a pool of blood. And from then on, the black haired female protagonist watches as her classmates are picked off in strange ways. Both anime are the scenario above, with some differences. If you liked one, try the other.

At the same time, he must attempt to uncover the truth behind the ‘Red Man', his mysterious childhood friend Shiro, and why he was the only survivor that bloody day.

Even though they both have slow beginnings they pretty much have non-stop action with decent dialog.  Nobody seems to be who they say they are.  Great amounts of blood and tragic stories.  Must see.

Jdogtoocool Jdogtoocool says...

Both Deadman Wonderland and Blood C and are fast paced, mysterious, bloody anime. There's times when the action does come out of nowhere somewhat randomly, and then there's times when the plot drags a little in a good way imo. There's surprises in store for you in both anime. If you liked one I'm sure you'll love the other.

hamletsmage hamletsmage says...

Bllod? Yes. Gore? Also yes. Supernatural mumbo-jumbo that boils down to "special blood is special"? Yeah...

Both of these feature a less-than-powerful protagonist that can quickly turn super powered if stressed. They quickly get surrounded by a mountain of bodies, and don't quite have the mental capacity to cope. So, if ypu liked one, check out the other. Psychosis and blood await you.

GANTZ

GANTZ

Much to the annoyance of Kei, he and his childhood friend Kato have died, having been torn apart by a train. But rather than finding themselves at the gates of heaven, the duo materialize in a room full of strangers and a giant black sphere known as GANTZ. As if dying once wasn’t bad enough, the occupants of the room are then forced to embark on dangerous missions to kill strange aliens; missions that very few return from. Now, Kei, Kato, and a well-endowed friend must fight for their freedom with an arsenal of guns, high powered suits, and a very low chance of survival.

High schoolers with no clue of what's going on? Check. Said highschoolers getting dismembered every other episode? Check. Absolutely no story points whatsoever? Check. Both of these series are focused on one thing and one thing alone: Bringing enough gore to your screen. Both do so in an excellent way, so if you don't mind overly bloody anime, go for it.

If you liked one, check out the other.

Gantz does the whole explicit gore + lots of action + fighting baddies thing WAY WAY better than Blood-C. If you're looking for a similar and better fix, check it out.

Great story, tons of violence with a splash of plot.  If your into vampires and things that go bump in the night, these two animes wont disapoint.  Oh by the way, neither one of these are for the weak at heart.  Nobodies safe.

Both involve teenage girls, with impressive fighting abilities with weapons against monsters that they refer to as their enemy, though they are more or less exactly like them. Also, in both of these anime, there is a hint of developing feelings between the heroine and a character. If you like anime with girls that don't mind getting bloody, have a mature and slightly cold personality, and have an alter ego (Blood C), then I highly recommend this anime.

Okamikakushi: Masque of the Wolf

Okamikakushi: Masque of the Wolf

Kuzumi Hiroshi moves with his crippled sister and his father to the remote city of Jouga, which is famous for its hassaku citrus and the rumors that a species of enormous wolves once lived in the area. While some of the residents are more than friendly, when people begin to vanish suddenly, it becomes apparent that something sinister is afoot...

Ookami Kakushi is far superior in my opinion, but both of these titles have some similar stuff in common - a mystery about wtf is going on, people getting messed up in various ways due to unknown foes, and a definite mix of slow parts + horror moments.

Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman

Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman

Time has passed since Akira Fudo was possessed by the powerful demon Amon, giving him the ability to change into Devilman. Humans have become increasingly paranoid of demon attacks, resorting to murder of innocent civilians with mob mentality – among nicer things. Akira continues to fight against the demon armies with his companions – but when his girlfriend Miki is brutally murdered, his will breaks and the sadistic Amon is unleashed, controlling his body. The final battle awaits in Akira’s mind – can he defeat Amon and control his body once more?

If extreme gore - and I do mean extreme - is your thing, these are two titles for you. I'm talkin people getting eaten alive, bones crunching, that sort of thing. Very few anime tread into this territory, Blood-C and Amon do.

Tokko

Tokko

Ranmaru is a young cop with a dark past. As one of the few survivors of a mindless slaughter in his apartment block, he joins a special unit called TOKKI to avenge his parents. In his first case, the already ghastly murder scene turns to one of terror, as the inhuman killers start to massacre the police. After being saved at the last minute by a secret unit named TOKKO who wield swords instead of guns, Ranmaru's mind is filled with questions and he is determined to find out the answers, no matter what it takes. What are these monsters, and why did they recognize him?

If you like bloody sword fighting and a descent story that makes sense enough to keep you entertained, then I recommend both Tokko and Blood C. You're going to get the gore, slight signs of romance, and those brief scenes of peacefullness that end abruptly with a bang. If you're in to that kind of stuff and you watched either Tokko or Blood C I'm sure you'll love the other.

This Ugly Yet Beautiful World

This Ugly Yet Beautiful World

One day a light descends from the sky and splits into the ideal girls of Takeru and Ryou. That is where this gentle and vaguely romantic story about our ugly and beautiful world begins. Soon enough the story plummets into the secrets of global extinction and the meaning of life. Everything in this world that is beautiful has something ugly in it, and that ugliness is part of the secret of its beauty. Even for romance this is true...

This Ugly Yet Beautiful World and Blood C feature innocence, suspense, awesome monster fights,  great plot twists, and the most awkward pace I've yet to find in other anime (some people might hate it, but most will find it appealing). Their respective endings are pretty fun and memorable in their own way. If you liked one I'm sure you'll love the other.
