Black Cat

Synopsis:

An organization known to the dark side of the world as Chronos claims to desire world peace, employing the top thirteen assassins in the world known as 'Erasers.' They each have a weapon customized to fit their style, all made out of orichalcum ore, the strongest material available on Earth. Together with Sven Vollfied, a struggling bounty hunter and a living weapon named Eve, Train takes up a job as a bounty hunter - all the while running from the other Erasers and Creed Diskenth, a crazed man whom wants him to join the Apostles of the Stars, a group made to destroy Chronos.

Psycho-pass

Psycho-pass

In the future, a system called Sibyl presides over the country and provides order to every facet of life. It dictates which job fields citizens should go into based on aptitude tests, and can even read each resident's mental state and predict which ones are likely to commit crimes in the future. Fresh from exams, Akane Tsunemori is beginning her career as an Inspector, a specialized police officer who works to apprehend these latent criminals and stop crimes before they happen. But not all that get caught are eliminated or jailed, some join the police force as Enforcers to provide insight into criminals’ minds, and Akane is warned not to get too close to them, as they're considered little more than hunting dogs. Though skeptical of this advice, and Sibyl's judgement, Akane is determined to work together with her Enforcers to protect the peace of her city and its inhabitants.

Both shows focus on a few people with guns surrounded by mystery. Psycho-pass touches on a broader range of topics and takes place in a more detailed and unique world, making it generally more entertaining than Black Cat.

Pumpkin Scissors

Pumpkin Scissors

Wars leech the life out of a country in so many ways. They consume lives and resources at an incredible rate, but what is worst is the way they eat away at hope. The Empire, which has survived the years of war, now finds itself with a new conflict to resolve: with the exception of the noble families that managed to hold their wealth during the struggle, its populace is made up of starving citizens and war-damaged soldiers. Section III of the army of the Empire was created to deal with this ongoing problem; however, their progress was been slow on all fronts. The citizens fear and distrust them due to their experiences with other soldiers, the nobles have no use for them, and the other branches of the military mock them for the ineffectual nature. LT. Alice L. Malvin of Section III Pumpkin Scissors won't be defeated, though, even if her newest recruit does have something unusual about him.

It's like a beast was tamed by a cat. In Black Cat and Pumpkin Scissors, you'll see how two perfect killing machines were transformed into a gentle and funny creature by a woman. If you liked one, you'd appreciate the other.

While the overall feel and mood of Soul Eater and Black Cat differ greatly, the overall consept is sort of the same. Trains job is to hunt down basically any bad guys he's told/hired to hunt down and either kill (as a Chronos Eraser) or capture (as a Sweeper) them for some type of reward, usually money or food. In Soul Eater, students (in pairs or groups) are assigned evil souls to hunt down and slay. Their Reward: the weapon of the team eventually becomes an all-powerful Death Scythe. Both are basically doing the same type of work to acheive their goal and both have special weapons cusomized for their abillities to use for these tasks. In the background, all the protgonists are going after one big antagonist that becomes bigger later in the story, for Soul Eater its the Kishin and for Black Cat its The Apostles of the Star, mainly Creed. If I were you and I liked one, I would most definatly give the other a try!

Everyone wants something from this world. Many don't know exactly what, but still fight on and discover it eventually. If you like mysterious characters with a touch of supernatural phenomenon, go for Black Cat and Speed Grapher.
