Kanamemo

Kanamemo

After her grandmother dies, thirteen year-old Kana Nakamachi runs away from home convinced her absent parents will sell her. She tries to find a job, but with nowhere willing to hire a girl of her age without parental consent, she is back at square one. Then, to make matters worse, a young girl called Yume crashes her bicycle into Kana and knocks her unconscious! Following this chance encounter, Kana learns of a job vacancy at the newspaper company that Yume works for and quickly applies. Now Kana has secured herself a live-in job delivering newspapers along with her new co-workers: lively Yume; quiet Yuki; drunken and perverted Haruka; money-hungry Hinata; and grade school deputy manager, Saki. From memorizing her paper route to learning how to ride a bicycle to fixing her terrifying smile, Kana’s new life has only just begun.

While Kanamemo have way more comedy than Binbou Shimai Monogatari, those shows are really similar. Both feature a young girl (or 2 girls in BSM case) who lost her relatives, and now tries to live on her own. While Kana is a bit more lucky than Asu and Kyou (since Kana actually finds a place that is sort of like family ) they both have to face troubles of working and going to school at the same time (on that note - both Kana and Kyou are working as a newspaper delivery ) . Also in both cases people around them try their best to help.

Both shows are slow-paced, have many cute moments, and some slightly sad moments. It never turns into a real drama though.  Generally if you like one of them you should enjoy the other one as well.

I think you'd like both shows, because they're both about family members caring for each other. In "Binbou Shimai Monogatari" there are just 2 sisters whose parents are gone where as in "Papa no lu Koto o Kikinasai!" there are 3 sisters and the uncle. But both animes feel similar, because one tends to sympathise with them and live with them through their every day life and the hardships they have to go through.

If you tend to have a strong protective instinct, both shows will grab you by this very special spot in your personality and drag you into a rollercoaster ride of emotions for sure.

Toradora!

Toradora!

Ryuuji Takasu has an eventful life: his classmates think he's a delinquent due to his 'killer' eyes; his crush Minori seems ever out of reach; and he’s just had an unfortunate encounter with 'palm-sized Taiga' – a feisty and dainty wench in his class. With different cleaning habits and tempers, the two clash like night and day; that is, except for the fact that Taiga and Ryuuji have crushes on the other's good friend! With school rumors abounding, the duo must now work together to play matchmaker for each other. Who will end up with their true love?

The two share a lot in common, in the aspect of everyday people dealing with everyday problems in the best way they can. Ryuji has a lot in common with the sisters Kyo and Asu, though both dealt with their situation in different ways I think that both shows present a positive message on how to deal with untoward circumstances. As a further warning, you will probably not like Binbou Shimai if you simply enjoyed Toradora due to the comedy (and vice versa).
