Sakura Wars OVA I is the first in a series of productions related to the Sakura Wars games for the Dreamcast. The story takes place in early 20th century Tokyo, whose people rely on steam powered technology. Demons and mechanical beings are increasingly attacking, and must be stopped at all costs. The world's best hope is the Capital Defense Force - Flower Division, a group of girls with exceptional abilities who must pilot the Spirit Armor -- mechanical shells which help to amplify their powers.

Yuna is an ordinary high school student... who also happens to be the defender of the galaxy. After being framed by the evil Fraulein D for high treason, Misaki, a spy of the Galactic Council, has been sent to Earth to investigate these claims. Join ravenous Yuri, TV Superstar Polyina and the rest of the gang as they help save Yuna from a fate worse than death, and assist her in her valient attempt at saving the galaxy once again!
