If you liked the Bastard!! anime, the Anime-Planet community thinks you'd like:
As the island of Lodoss braces against a new assault by the Marmo and their new allies, the fate of the land falls into the hands of Spark, an inexperienced young knight. As aging legends Ashram, Kashew, Parn and Deedlit begin to fade, a new generation of heroes will have to arise to keep Lodoss from being torn apart by conflict.
The similarities are clear in the settings of both anime: Dungeons and dragons-style fantasy with dark gods waiting to be resurrected. Bastard!! focusses more on action and is slightly comedic whereas Record Of Lodoss War is much more serious and has a superior storyline. The similar nature and artwork of both shows means that if you like one, you should try the other.
Yakumo was just a normal boy... until he died in a tragic accident. Now, resurrected by the last of a race of powerful creatures, he has become her Wu, an immortal servant. Together, they must battle against Benares, the all-powerful Wu of the dark lord Shiva. What dark secrets from Pai's past will this battle unearth?
Powerful being trapped in human bodies, Parvati IV from 3x3 Eyes and Dark Schneider from Bastard!! have some immediate similarities. Watch out when they break free, as charnage soon follows. Both short OVAs with plenty of action, if you enjoyed one, you should check out the other.
Negishi Souichi always dreamed of joining a trendy pop band, so that he could perform music like that of his idol, Kahimi Karie. In order to realize his dream, he decided to leave the country side and his loving parents to study in Tokyo. And after graduating, he does manage to join a band... but not the kind he was expecting! As lead singer of the death metal band Detroit Metal City, under the stage name Krauser II, he is made to perform loud songs filled with obscene lyrics - a far cry from the songs he used to write in school. But despite the fact that Negishi hates DMC's music, the Krauser side of him will do anything to put on a good show for his fans... even if it means making Negishi's life a misery!
DMC and Bastard have one big theme in common, metal. It's pretty clear why DMC is a very metal show, DMC is the show that Metalocalypse should have been. And Bastard is also a very metal show, the main kingdom in the show is called Metallicana, and there are plenty of other metal references. Both of these shows also have a protagonist who has a double personality, with one personality being ridiculously unassuming and the other being ridiculously over the top. Both shows have humor (though DMC is much funnier) and are perfectly suitable to show kids if you want the kids in question to have nightmares. Bwahahahaha.
Both of these OVAs feature dumb comedy, metal references and dual-personality protagonists: one personality being kind & modest and the other - ridiculously over-the-top & immoral. The differences are the setting, the art style and the pacing (DMC is more dynamic than Bastard).
In a dark version of the future, the world is protected by three guardians: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The guardian of Silver is none other than Lemnear, a silver-haired beauty who is out for revenge for the death of her parents at the hand of an evil mage. With the lord of all evil on her tail, her body at risk of becoming one of many in a slave trader's harem, and Bronze being kidnapped, Lemnear has her work cut out for her...
Bastard and Lemnear both have ecchi, lots of action, and high fantasy; should I elaborate more? Bastard!! has more comedy and Legend Of Lemnear is more straightforward, but both smell of the same scent.
In the distant future, man has advanced into space and spread to worlds throughout the galaxy. On one such planet, Jerra, a brutal war began between the Jerran army and the Nexram - those who opposed a galactic Earth government. To combat the threat the Jerran army created the MDS - Most Dangerous Soldiers - who possess elite fighting abilities. However, one such soldier, MD Geist, was deemed too ferocious and imprisoned inside an orbiting satellite. Now, in the present, both sides have been decimated and the planet lies in ruins. After his satellite falls to the planet, MD Geist wanders the wasteland once more. And after killing the leader of a powerful gang, Geist finds himself in the company of a woman named Vaiya. Together, the two join with survivors of the Jerran army and set forth on a quest to exterminate Death Force - a doomsday device built by the Jerrans - before it activates.
In MD Geist and Bastard!! the main characters are both violent fighters who have been locked away for many years. Now that they have escaped, they plan to take what they want. Intense action follows both throughout. If you liked the dark tones and action of one series, you should try out the other.
Both series have violent anti-heroes for protagonists. They both live in a world of brutal violence which they must fight their way through. Both anime are light on plot but heavy on action with a dash of fanservice.
The settings might be different but their the same kind of spectacle anime more about providing visceral thrills than being intellecutally satisfying.
