As the island of Lodoss braces against a new assault by the Marmo and their new allies, the fate of the land falls into the hands of Spark, an inexperienced young knight. As aging legends Ashram, Kashew, Parn and Deedlit begin to fade, a new generation of heroes will have to arise to keep Lodoss from being torn apart by conflict.
If you liked Bastard!!, then you must see Record of Lodoss War (TV). This Medieval style anime is loaded with action, and a host of fantasy characters and beasts.
Both of these series are set into a midieval fantasy world where there are evil demons and magic and sorcery, so if you liked one, you would really like the other. Lodoss War is a little more epic however and the quest is a lot longer.
The similarities are clear in the settings of both anime: Dungeons and dragons-style fantasy with dark gods waiting to be resurrected. Bastard!! focusses more on action and is slightly comedic whereas Record Of Lodoss War is much more serious and has a superior storyline. The similar nature and artwork of both shows means that if you like one, you should try the other.
Meet Chivas Scotch: a sorcerer with a style all his own. The opposite of benevolent and honorable, he's an arrogant and domineering misogynist who travels the lands with his (mostly female) servants, searching for opportunities to indulge his greed and his desire for female flesh. But when he comes across a scheme by a mad wizard to ressurrect an ancient god of darkness, all hell breaks loose as Chivas suddenly finds himself the lesser of two evils!
Both Sorcerer on the Rocks and Bastard deal with a lecherous and highly powerful wizard who is a lot more concerned with his own ambitions than what is 'right' or 'good,' and only decides to fight evil in the show because they pissed him off on a personal level. Both also contain a good amount of ecchi and comedy.
Like extremely arrogant and powerful sorcerers, and ecchi? Both Bastard and Sorcerer On The Rocks have that and are lots of fun. Sorcerer On The Rocks is a bit shorter, but demon fights and evil sorcerers are just as present in Bastard!! No doubt that both will give enjoyment to someone who liked either one of them.
Both contain badass arrogant sorcerors, calamity, women, and a dash of comedy. Both "heroes" do not fit a typical hero mold, but instead do what benefits them. While Sorcerer On the Rocks is shorter, they both have their fair share of evil, demons, fights, ecchi, and comedy.
In a dark version of the future, the world is protected by three guardians: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The guardian of Silver is none other than Lemnear, a silver-haired beauty who is out for revenge for the death of her parents at the hand of an evil mage. With the lord of all evil on her tail, her body at risk of becoming one of many in a slave trader's harem, and Bronze being kidnapped, Lemnear has her work cut out for her...
While both have a high fantasy setting straight from a D&D rulebook with gratuitous ecchi thrown in, Bastard! takes everything to extremes, with quite a comic tone. Legend of Lemnear stays a little more straight faced, but also keeps the action coming with little pause for thought.
Bastard and Lemnear both have ecchi, lots of action, and high fantasy; should I elaborate more? Bastard!! has more comedy and Legend Of Lemnear is more straightforward, but both smell of the same scent.
Yakumo was just a normal boy... until he died in a tragic accident. Now, resurrected by the last of a race of powerful creatures, he has become her Wu, an immortal servant. Together, they must battle against Benares, the all-powerful Wu of the dark lord Shiva. What dark secrets from Pai's past will this battle unearth?
Both 3x3 Eyes and Bastard! are short OVAs where gore is the main theme. In 3x3 Eyes a magical race is the main feature while in Bastard! it's a wizard. Definitely very comparable series!
Powerful being trapped in human bodies, Parvati IV from 3x3 Eyes and Dark Schneider from Bastard!! have some immediate similarities. Watch out when they break free, as charnage soon follows. Both short OVAs with plenty of action, if you enjoyed one, you should check out the other.
In the distant future, man has advanced into space and spread to worlds throughout the galaxy. On one such planet, Jerra, a brutal war began between the Jerran army and the Nexram - those who opposed a galactic Earth government. To combat the threat the Jerran army created the MDS - Most Dangerous Soldiers - who possess elite fighting abilities. However, one such soldier, MD Geist, was deemed too ferocious and imprisoned inside an orbiting satellite. Now, in the present, both sides have been decimated and the planet lies in ruins. After his satellite falls to the planet, MD Geist wanders the wasteland once more. And after killing the leader of a powerful gang, Geist finds himself in the company of a woman named Vaiya. Together, the two join with survivors of the Jerran army and set forth on a quest to exterminate Death Force - a doomsday device built by the Jerrans - before it activates.
In MD Geist and Bastard!! the main characters are both violent fighters who have been locked away for many years. Now that they have escaped, they plan to take what they want. Intense action follows both throughout. If you liked the dark tones and action of one series, you should try out the other.
Both series have violent anti-heroes for protagonists. They both live in a world of brutal violence which they must fight their way through. Both anime are light on plot but heavy on action with a dash of fanservice.
The settings might be different but their the same kind of spectacle anime more about providing visceral thrills than being intellecutally satisfying.
