Gokujo: Gokurakuin Joshikou Ryou Monogatari

Aya Akabane is anything but typical. She's arrogant, believes her bra is a fashion accessory that's meant to be worn in public and takes out her aggression on her closest friends – especially poor Konatsu, who is frequently picked up and spun around by her ponytail. Together with her friends, Aya enjoys an action-packed, event-filled high school life, whether she's trying to steal the panties her friends are wearing or secretly trying to film her classmates underwater!

Both series are about the wacky lives of young high school girls and their friends.  Both are very episodic, with no real overarching plotlines, but that's okay since they are short, sweet, and to the point!  Each episode is chock full of zaney-comedy created by simple, everyday occurences.

And Yet the Town Moves

And Yet the Town Moves

The brash Hotori Arashiyama is a far from regular girl with the lofty dream of becoming a genius high school detective, but for now she is working at the Seaside maid café to earn some extra money. Unfortunately the establishment itself is deserted and the teen is far from being the epitome of a gracious maid. Enter Toshiko, Hotori’s friend and classmate, whose expertise and passion for maid cafés – as well has her interest in Sanada, one of the few regular customers – leads her take on the quest to turn Seaside into a bistro to be proud of. However, can a cafe owned by an elderly woman whose solution to everything is curry and staffed by a clueless, foolhardy teenager really become a success, or even attract more than the usual four patrons?

Handa-kun

Handa-kun

Sei Handa's high school life is one that many teenagers would love to have. He is admired by both students and teachers alike for his calligraphy and he even has his own fan club known as the Handa Force. Unfortunately for Sei, who has a unique talent for misreading situations, his extreme anxiety has convinced him that everyone in school hates him! The more people fawn over him, the more he is convinced that he is being bullied. The members of the Handa Force are equally clueless, misreading every word and action from Sei as something grand or heroic and completely unaware that their daily attempts to guard him from the school's various weirdos make Sei think that they are dangerous stalkers. Will anyone ever figure out what's really going on here, or will this cycle of craziness continue until graduation?

Both anime have a great cast of highschool girls with wacky personalities. Sunshine has more of a plot, but if you like the humor of one I think you'll like the humor of the other.

Both Chitose Get You and Azumanga Daioh are plot-less comedy which follows the silly antics of a group of school-aged girls. The humor is pretty random in both shows and there's a bigger variety of jokes in Azumanga Daioh, but fans of one will like the other too.

Tanaka-kun is Always Listless

Tanaka-kun is Always Listless

Adapted from the popular web manga series published by Square Enix, this unconventional, surrealist comedy follows an exhausted high school boy who, despite multiple attempts from his friends, still manages to spectacularly… sleep. Much to the chagrin of the energetic (at times bossy) Ohta, Tanaka is often found in a blissful state of lethargy, possessing the ability to doze off in any situation, especially in mid-sentence!

Nothing really happens in this show and nothing really needs to. Just some odd, quirky students going to school and having a good time.

Gintama

Gintama

In Gintoki's Japan, the arrival of the various space races known collectively as the Amanto ended the era of the samurai. The Amanto's highly advanced technology resulted in total conquest and a severe economic shift. Now, former samurai such as Gintoki scrape together whatever livelihood they can. Gintoki's profession of choice is that of a yorozuya: he'll complete any job for money. However, he’s unmotivated; and spending most of the day on the couch with the latest issue of Jump and a carton of Strawberry Milk is his preferred pastime. It turns out that his new unpaid employees, Shinpachi and Kagura, are going to interfere with his pastime even more than with his "work"! Of course, none of this means he has really given up on his samurai ideologies!

Their premise is not at all similar, but both have a large cast of strange and eclectic characters. Both animes use absurdist humour and parody.
