These are both case by case mysteries with a light horror feel to them. Ayatsuri Sakon focuses more on the mystery and Ghost Hunt focuses more on the horror aspect of the anime. However, both are intriguing and the central characters are endearing.

Both Ayatsuri Sakon and Ghost Hunt are discovery animes in the sense that the protagonists often try to uncover some sort of mystery.

Both series follow a similar episodic manner in development, displaying several varying scenarios, while having a single storyline carrying through.

While Ayatsuri Sakon is aimed toward uncovering criminals and Ghost Hunt is aimed at the surreal, they both utilize an excellent deductive process which viewers may find intriguing.

Because both of them follow a team of people who solve murder mysteries, and both are quite a bit like Sherlock Holmes. While we see things through Mai's eyes in Ghost Hunt, we see things through Ukon's eyes in Ayatsuri Sakon, and the time it takes to solve each mystery, the complex plot and characters are all very similar.

Ayatsuri Sakon and Hundred Stories both excel in the field of horror. While AS is about a detective, HS is also about detective work of sorts... finding stories to publish in a book. Regardless, both have a certain flair and knack at making your skin crawl, while keeping you terribly entertained and enthralled.

The protagonist in both of these series has an uncanny ability to run into murder mysteries.  Furthermore, they both are enigmatic about figuring out the "trick" to the solution, while their companions stand around dumbfounded.  If you have fun watching these kinds of series (as I do), I recommend both.

Both of these animes are based on solving mysteries. The main character solves crimes and with the help of their friends they solve the case. So if you like to watch animes that solve cases and mysteries you'd probably like both of these animes.

These are two fairly decent mystery series. They have a very similar atmosphere as well compelling stories. Ayatsuri Sakon is a "touch" more violent however, so if you are squeemish, you have been warned.

Ayatsuri Sakon and St Luminous are both good if you like the detective work. St. Luminous has a definite plot that maintains itself through the course of the series, while Ayatsuri Sakon is more arc-based with random murder mysteries. The quality of animation in AS is definitely better. Both feature fantastic music.
