Aboslutely a perfect rec for eachoter. Both feature unexpected twist, have a certian romance undertone and have, most improtantly of all: alot of aliens and quite some gore. The only main difference is that Blue Gender has fairly dated art and animation, while Archetypes Forces is completely computer generated

Truly, Archetypes Forces and Blue Gender share a common thread of a horrific type sci-fi plot that will keep you on your toes. Twists abound in both series, and are generally compelling and interesting. I highly think you'd like one if you liked the other.

Now, you might be thinking that I recommended these two because they are both CG, right? Well, you are wrong! The visual style specifically, as well as the twist intensive sci fi plot are what made me think of this, and I think it fits very well. The dark tone and mood, the suspense, and the wonderful sci fi aspect are prevalent in both, and I know you'd like one if you liked the other.

Both are wonderful sci-fi tales that are suspenseful and dark. Both are CG so they are different from the normal types of animation ova or movies. Archetypes Forces is way shorter than Rion but check one out if you enjoyed the other.

Alien Nine

Alien Nine

At a typical elementary school in Japan, yearly chores are being distributed. Yuri and 3 other students are chosen to be the beneficiaries of the alien hats for the year. Alien hats?! Yuri's sentiments, exactly. Despite her misgivings, she and her classmates must round up stray aliens that have escaped from a crashed spaceship -- with the help of the alien hats, of course.

Despite being set in an elementary school rather than on a high tech spaceship, Alien Nine is far more mature, intelligent and entertaining than Archetypes Forces. Though the animation style is completely different, both feature skating around after aliens and twisty plots - something the cutesy style of A9 manages to make far more shocking than the cg faux noir feel of AF.

Crest of the Stars: Birth

The fully cg animation and fast paced action of Archetypes Forces makes an interesting contrast with the experimental style and strong characterisation of Seikai no Danshou, in light of their similar spaceship setting. While both have an interest in telling a less than straightforward story, I'll leave you to decide which you think is more enjoyable.

Lightning Trap: Leina & Laika

Dealing with a monster outbreak in a pressurised environment is at the center of Lightning Trap and Archetypes Forces. Yes, retro 80s aircraft in the first is rather different from the CG rendered spaceship in the second, but as short sharp doses of action, both will eject your cargo container quite happily.

Roots Search

Roots Search

With the crew being picked off on by one, and tensions rising, can any of them last long enough to escape?

Both anime are about how bad things can get in space when you don't have any idea what is attacking you. Archetypes Forces is short and CG where Roots Search is VERY 80's. Both have plenty of action and suspence that will keep you guessing what will happen next. Check one out if you liked the other.
