Two very disprate shows will definitely appeal to the same type of fans. Nana had the dramatic feel of an over the top tv soap, whilst Antique Bakery spends little time on the shounen-ai and more on the development of friendships. If you like to sit back and enjoy two slower paced, emotional filled rides where you feel like you befriend the charming characters, then I highly recommend both of these shows to you.

Hanamaru Youchien

Hanamaru Youchien

Tsuchida has just started working at the Hanamaru Kindergaten, and, as the first and only male teacher at the school, he’s particularly nervous. Unfortunately his first day doesn’t go quite as smoothly as planned as not only does Tsuchida turn up late, but then a small girl named Anzu claims that he hit on her in front of all the parents! Look look look! Another slice-of-life show about adults (there really aren't very many of these) doing their jobs. Antique Bakery and Hanamaru Kindergarden are relaxing series with comedy and threads of romance (that didn't go anywhere in either series).

Working!!

Working!!

Self-professed lover of all things small and cute, Souta Takanashi finds himself dragooned into working at the Wagnaria family restaurant by the diminutive and vivacious Poplar Taneshima. Though the pay is reasonable and the clientele polite, the high school student is often at his wits' end when dealing with the quirky staff. If the indifferent and street-tough manager, katana-carrying floor chief, and terminally weak Poplar weren't enough, Souta frequently fears for his life, as every encounter with the violently androphobic Inami ends in injury. How long can he survive before the combined stress and harm do him in?

Aside the shonen ai hints in Antique Bakery, both series are forcused in a familiar-like café store where the staff is, at the same time, comedic and life-like build. Laughs secured.

If you enjoy Antique Bakery, you will like the comedy on Working!! And, if you liked Working!! and you don't mind the male-male jokes, you will love Antique Bakery.

Antique Bakery isn't for everyone (hints of shounen-ai). BL aside, if you watched either of these shows to stare at beautiful animated pastries, or because you like a slower plot which is mostly happy but has darker elements, you might enjoy the other.

Both animes have a cutesy, fun feel to them while still having their serious situations and conflict to overcome. Also, of course, the obvious similarity additionally being that it's boy x boy (pg13)
