These both deal with human/robot relations. In Armitage, however, the robots are seen as hostile, and in Armitage they are sympathetic characters. Both stories show war activity because of the loss of control over robots. They are each kind of dark and have some action.

The recommendation here is chiefly for the short "World Record". Both "World Record" and Redline were directed by Takashi Koike, and have a very similar look - angular, ugly bodies, and the like. Each also involve a protagonist pushing himself to the limit to suceed in a sporting event in a science fiction future which presents more than a few complications. Redline far exceeds "World Record" in animation, but if you liked one, the other is probably worth a look.

Eve no Jikan Movie

Eve no Jikan Movie

In the future, androids live side by side with humans – but not as their equals, as their slaves. Though they look identical, these androids must display a holographic ring over their heads so the difference is clear. One day, a boy named Rikuo finds abnormal activity patterns in the logs of his own android, and alongside his friend Masaki, he sets forth to find where the android has been. Much to their surprise, the duo discovers a secret café known as Eve no Jikan with a single rule: within its walls, there must be no discrimination between humans and robots. In this place, androids appear to be human and are even displaying signs of independence – a trait that should not be possible. Rikou finds his perceptions increasingly challenged as he struggles to come to terms with his own android, and the relationship between man and machines...

You will like one if you like the other, both involve Sci-Fi aspects as well as machine sentience, where Animatrix emphasises the worst possible outcome being the war between man and machine, Time of Eve focuses on the relationships between man and machine if machines were able to achieve free will.

If you like Amazing Nuts! you'd also most likely like The Animatrix. Both Anime are an esortment of very different styled animation, featuring a new story with each unique short. Both give a very strange feeling but are both good.

You want rotoscope action don't you?

Yes, you are a fan of different looking and often unique animation styles. (No Moe for you)

Well here you go.

Animatrix utilizes several types of animation, including one short called Kid's Story. Both Flowers of Evil and this in particular short use Rotoscoping. Rotoscoping is where live acion frames are traced over to produce a animated effect)

If you want to check titels based on anime techniquies not used as much in anime, you could check out either of these titles.

Animatrix also employs Cg animation, and high quality 2D. Aku No Hana, more or less is a work in progress for using a more unshaded rotoscoping.
