Synopsis:
A young galaxy is crumbling and their queen is in a deep slumber - but there is hope, for according to prophecy a young girl will become the "Etoile" and save them. Shipping one hundred talented girls to their land, the queen and her nine guardians look for the Etoile to no avail - save for one: Angelique, an insecure and clumsy girl from the countryside. It is she who is destined to fulfill the prophecy. Eventually Angelique accepts her fate, but with so many obstacles to overcome and with doubts in her heart, can she succeed in saving the galaxy?

add recBoth series are about a girl who is chosen to save the world with the help of group of men with special abilities. Both series are very romantic and they follow the same progression. If you liked one, you would surely like the other.
Both Pretear and Angelique center around a normal everyday girl that gets whisked away into a magical situation. Both deal with the main heroine surrounded by hot looking guys trying to save the earth.
If you've watched either Angelique or Pretear then I strongly recommend you watching the other one. The two have the same kind characters and ideas that make them both great. Both of the main characters are girls who think that they're not special in any way and can't be of help to anyone - plus they're surrounded by guys that are sworn to protect them and fight alongside them. In Pretear the story is more comical - but in both anime are genres of shoujo, magic, romance and comedy. In both Angelique and Pretear you'll find yourself cheering the main character on as she attempts to fulfill her duty and make sturdy relationships with the characters.
If you enjoyed either Pretear or Angelique ~When the Heart Awaknes~ - then the other is a MUST see!
Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ~Hachiyou Shou~
After their protector gods are stolen, a high school girl named Akane descends from the skies to the people of Kyou. She has within her the power of the Dragon God and is welcomed as a savior; but has she come to save Kyou, or destroy it? add recBoth series are about a girl who has to fore fill some prophecy in a strange environment. And of course in both series there are some well willing guys by her side to aid her. If you liked one, and you want more of the same genre then this is a good pick.
Both series are about a girl with strong personality who is chosen to save the world with the help of group of handsome men. Both series are quite romantic and they follow about the same progression. If you liked one, you would surely like the other.
Princess Tutu

Once there lived an eccentric author called Drosselmeyer who wrote grand tragedies - one of them was the tale of a prince who sealed away an evil raven by breaking his own heart into tiny pieces. However, before the story could be completed, the author died and the tale took on a life of its own. Now, in a town where fiction and reality meet, the story continues on its tragic course with Ahiru, a duck who transforms into the beautiful Princess Tutu in order to restore the prince's heart. But will Ahiru's act of love be enough to defy the story's terrible destiny and lead to a happy ending?

add recPrincess Tutu shares that episodic format with Angelique where a girl must collect fragments in order to heal a whole, along the way having numerous adventures. However, anyone thinking Angelique is entertaining should immediately proceed to watch Princess Tutu! It's an outstanding anime that actually creates a fresh, funny, and eccentric story around shoujo cliches like bishies, ballet, fairytales, cutesie animation etc. You will not be disappointed, trust me.
Scrapped Princess

But the knight who was to kill her could not end the life of a newborn child, and so she lived. add recThere are many tragic elements in Angelique that really make me think of Scrapped Princess. They don't have the same kind of story but they do share a similar tone. Both are strongly shoujo with cheerful central protagonists who has a rather bittersweet destiny. I'd really check out Scrapped Princess if you liked Angelique - When the Heart Awakens.
Saiunkoku Monogatari
Alt titles: Story of the Land of Many-Colored Clouds
In an ancient and mythological land called Saiunkoku, the people have begun to recover from a period of war and famine; thus, when an official from the imperial court offers the impoverished and beautiful Shuurei more money than she could ever dream of in return for a favor, she jumps at the chance. What she doesn’t count on, however, is being asked to become a concubine to the recluse Emperor and help him transform into a better leader. What’s more, the Emperor shows little intelligence, seems to have no interest in ruling, and is rumored to prefer men. One thing’s for certain: Shuurei has her work cut out for her!

add recMy guess is you're looking for something colourful, sparkly, with lots of bishounen and a plucky female lead. Well, here you go - check out Saiunkoku Monogatari. While Angelique is not too bad (and more aimed at kids), Saiunkoku Monogatari is positively good, with a far better plot. Like Angelique, however, it's about a girl being thrown into a new poltiical life that they have to get used to, involves a lot of that same fluffy adventuring, some magical legends, and pretty colours and all that jazz.
