The sporty Nagisa and the bookish Honoka are ordinary middle school students, but when two strange creatures called Mepple and Mipple force them together to form the magical girl squad Pretty Cure, their differences soon give way to a developing friendship. But being a hero of the Light is not all roses! Will there be enough time for studying, playing lacrosse and cute boys in between their battles against minions of evil?
Angelic Layer and Pretty Cure are spins on two anime genres: namely "collectible fighting monsters" and "magical girls". Both series may seem typical on the surface but in actuality are non-standard examples of their genres, especially when it comes to action sequences. Battles in Pretty Cure and Angelic Layer are physically punishing as the heroines engage their opponents in hand-to-hand combat, rather than rely on special attacks or mystical artifacts like in other shows.
Both series are aimed at young audiences but neither is pandering or condescending, so older viewers can enjoy them as well.
Hinamori Amu is a stylish punk rock girl who is liked and feared by her peers, but there's just one problem: she's actually a shy and quiet girl who can't seem to drop her self-fabricated facade! But when Amu finds three eggs in her bed, she had no idea her life would change forever. Out of the eggs pop Ran, Miki and Su, Amu's Guardian Charas; these being represent parts of Amu that she wishes she could be, even allowing Amu to transform into those parts at will! Now, with pressure from the other Guardians (including her crush, Hotori) to join their midst, dark sides of the psyche known as X Eggs to seal, and nefarious forces after a wish-granting egg known as the embryo, Amu's life has officially become more complicated!
Shugo Chara is more of a magical girl show... but the main charector has inferiator complex, ANd in Angelic Layer the main charector is confused with her mommy problems. Both animes have alot of battles and comedy, very light romance but with a fun approach. I highly recommend these animes!
Momomiya Ichigo was a normal girl, worried mostly about her crush, Aoyama Masaya. However, just as she was finally able to date him, she was struck by a mysterious beam and everything changed. She is now part of the Mew Project, genetically fused with an endangered species of cat. With her new powers and companions, she must protect the earth from invading aliens.
Both animes have a lot of battles, arenas, and matches. But Tokyo Mew Mew focuses more on comedy, Romance and saving the world... while in Angelic Layer, the main charector is fighting for the discovery of her mother, but there is light Romance and a ton of Comedy too.
The power to cross over dimensions is one that is deeply coveted -- a lesson that childhood friends Sakura and Syaoran learn the hard way when an unknown enemy attacks an archaeological dig in their country. As a result, Sakura's memories are scattered to different dimensions, causing her to fall into a deep sleep. In order to save Sakura's life, she and Syaoran must journey to various worlds in search of her memories, with the help of fellow travelers, Fai and Kurogane. But finding Sakura's memories won't be easy, and the price for traveling through time and space is high...
Both series are from Clamp (Always the same reason =p).
I don't remember if it is in this serie but you will probably find the characters you saw in Angelic Layer in here too.
And both are really good romantic action series.
Having only recovered a portion of Sakura’s feathers, Syaoran and Sakura, along with Fai, Kurogane, and Mokona, still have a long journey ahead of them.
