Now and Then, Here and There

Now and Then, Here and There

Amidst a beautiful sunset, Shu is violently whisked away to a grim future devoid of water, and empty of hope; a place where children are forced to become soldiers, and kill countless others in the name of King Hamdo. Shu's companion is a mysterious girl named La La Ru, who may hold the key to survival. Now, he must concentrate on the only things that matter: escaping Hellywood, and finding a way home.

Now and Then, Here and There has the same kind of desperate feeling you find in Angel Sanctuary, but it is much better. Thus, if you liked Angel Sanctuary, I really recommend that you check out Now and Then.

Vampire Knight

Vampire Knight

Cross Academy is a school with a difference: in a unique and experimental setup designed by the headmaster, it has a Day Class consisting of ordinary humans and a Night Class filled with vampires. Yuki Cross and her friend Zero Kiryu are school prefects whose job it is to make sure the secret of the Night Class is always safe; they patrol the school grounds at night and supervise the switchover of classes at dawn and dusk to prevent any 'accidents' from happening. While Zero is suspicious of vampires and hates the idea of sharing the same space as them, Yuki admires the Night Class for their beauty and sophistication; she is especially intrigued by their charming leader, Kaname, because he once saved her life. However, as Yuki quickly learns, not all vampires are amiable like the Night Class, and as terrible events unfold, Yuki must ask herself whether in a world where vampires are the hunters and humans are the prey, peaceful coexistence can really be achieved.

A romance with mystery, supernatural and dark atmosphere. However the manga of Angel Sanctuary is more like this description. The anime is just too short to show the real soul of Angel Sanctuary which has a familiar atmosphere to Vampire Knight.

Heh... Wicked City would probably be the darker side of the Angel Sanctuary storyline. Wicked City is far more graphic in violence and content, but shares a similar story of love gained, love lost, love reclaimed. Recommended if you don't mind the extra gore in Wicked City or the incest in Angel Sanctuary... 0_o

I take it you liked Angel Sanctuary for the dark tones, the violence, the pretty animation, the taboo themes of incest etc. Well, then you'll like X: The Movie. All about people being destined to prevent/cause the apocalypse or some such tragedy, lots of angel wings on show, and gore and dark themes abound. There's no way you won't like X: The Movie if you actually enjoyed Angel Sanctuary, because it's better animated, actually has a complete plot, and is just as cheesy.

Yosuga no Sora

The Last arc of Yosuga no Sora reminds of the themes of Angel Sanctuary. Brother and Sister fight their respective society in order to try and find a place where the two of them truly belong. Yosuga is more dramatic and ecchi, whereas Angel is more violent and confusing. Watch one if you like the other
