When Tokidoki Rikugou donned a pair of virtual reality glasses and entered a Bakumatsu-era exhibit at a museum, he had no idea that his life would drastically change. While walking across a bridge in the fabricated reality, Tokidoki ran across a small being and a monster called a nue - and he was promptly attacked. His eye was damaged, but more importantly, Tokidoki discovered that he was now stuck inside the "virtual reality" filled with samurai and spirits. Now, with the help of Kuchiha, a warrior woman possessed by a dog spirit; and Shinonome, a fellow student who has been stuck, just like Tokidoki, for the past two years, Tokidoki must search for the truth behind the nue and try to find a way home.
Another super-excellent person-in-a-strange world anime. In Ixion Saga, it is the Otaku dating-sim-boy transported into the game, in Amatsuki, an unassuming school boy goes to a VR exhibit of Bakumatsu Tokyo/Edo and ends up there. Both are really good, I liked them. Enjoy!!
MKR is a Clamp anime about three girls who are taken from Tokyo during a school field trip, and transported into a fantasy world. Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuzaaki, and Fuu Hououji must fight a slew of enemies, overcome trials and tribulations, and face their inner demons to save Cephiro, a wonderfully detailed world, from a dastardly evil and powerful Priest, Zagato.
Like the tag says, these series are about the adventures of people in a strange world who didn't get in there for their own will. Fighting supernatural creatures, our heroes must prove the strenght of their will to protect others and make their way home.
Naruto Uzumaki is a young ninja who bears a great power hidden inside him, a power that has isolated him from the rest of his village. As such, his only dream is to become the Hokage - the most powerful ninja, and leader of the village; but first he needs to graduate! With his inability to perform even the most basic ninja techniques, it seems that all Naruto has going for him is his determination to succeed no matter what. Teamed up with the genius Sasuke, book-smart Sakura, and their team leader Kakashi, Naruto embarks on his quest to become the Hokage. But with outside forces posing a threat to the entire Hidden Leaf village, Naruto discovers that he must become much stronger if he ever wants to realize his dream and protect the friendships he's forged.
Naruto has a 9 tails fox demon inside, in amatsuki there is an important character too with the same qualities, and how people react to them is the same. The plot might not be exactly similar, but while watching one you might remember the other.
Peace Maker Kurogane takes place in Kyoto in the late 19th century, during the height of the conflict between the Shinsengumi, a shogunal police force, and its enemy, an anti-government faction called the Choshu. This tale follows a young boy named Ichimura Tetsunosuke who is desperate to join the Shinsengumi and avenge his parents' deaths by the hands of the Choshu. But in the midst of the bloodshed, will he be strong enough to survive?
Though Peace Maker Kurogane and Amatsuki aren't entirely similar (PMK legitimately takes place in the past, while Amatsuki is somewhat of a time travel scenario), they have a similar feel. Each has a blend of action and drama, and will probably appeal to the same fans.
In the feudal kingdom of Yogo, a dark secret is threatening its proud imperial family, and the Emperor intends to destroy it before it leaks out. Unfortunately this dark secret resides within his son, the young and innocent Second Prince Chagum. Enter Balsa, a wandering warrior who has sworn to save eight lives in penance for those she has taken during her violent career. Upon accepting her role as protector to Chagum, her eighth and final job, the two begin a perilous journey that tests not only their physical endurance and mental resolve, but also the tentative relationship they build along the way. Will Balsa fulfill her penance and protect Chagum as he seeks to understand the nature of his secret? Or will the Emperor's relentless assassins and other powerful enemies get them first?
Both of these series had a very similar fighting style. Also it based around the demon and spirit worlds. They leave you uniquely satisfied that you watched them.
