I felt both Aldnoah Zero and Gundam had similar plot lines about war between Mars and Earth. Both of them are pretty good.

Aquarion Evol

Aquarion Evol

After accidentally forming the legendary mecha “Aquarion,” Amata finds himself at a pilot-training academy where the flirty girls love to get a rise out of him, and the boys seem more interested in exploring mysterious holes and big bangs than harnessing their Elemental superpowers. It’s all awkward dates, hijinks, and threesomes until otherworldly beings start abducting powerful female students. As a mysterious megalomaniac plots interplanetary disaster, the fate of the galaxy depends on whether or not the hormone-fueled academy coeds can come together to fight evil.

These too animes are similar but Aquarion has more romance. They both have mecha and two guys that want the girl and have to fight for her.

Re:Creators

Re:Creators

People have created many stories. Joy, sadness, anger, deep emotion. Stories stir up emotion and captivate. However, those emotions are nothing more than the feelings of a spectator. What if the characters in the stories had their own will. In their eyes, are we, the creators of the stories, like gods? Revolution for our world. Punishment for the land of the gods. Re:CREATORS. Everyone becomes a Creator.

Both are made by the same studio, and both capture a dark realism that is shared between the two.  If you liked one, you'll like the other!

Both are about ordinary citizens with extraordinary wits that allow them to overcome mechs that are seemingly impossible to beat with simple means (a massed produced mech or an older gen mech). Both stories are filled with strategies and tactics that are fresh and feels ingenious

Mobile Suit Gundam 00

Mobile Suit Gundam 00

In the 24th century, the planet's fossil fuels have been completely consumed, forcing humanity to use solar power as the primary source of energy. A huge solar energy system orbiting the planet was eventually built, anchored to the Earth and providing it with power through three orbital space elevators. As a result of the expense of such a large-scale project, most the world consolidated into three factions: the Union, the Human Reform League, and the AEU. Despite their common reliance on the fragile orbital elevators for energy, however, humanity still continues to constantly fight wars and build up arms. A paramilitary organization called Celestial Being, equipped with incredibly powerful mobile suits called Gundams, fight in order to force humanity to unite and eradicate armed conflict.

In both shows, they are trying to stop a war from people who profit from it and use the most advanced mechas to fight. Both shows have a good amount of politics and utilize smart strategies & tactics to fight.
