Reasons you might like Kanon (2006)...

KumoKasa KumoKasa says...

Kanon 2006 is animated by the same studio that Air, so the art is incredibly well-drawn. Kyoto Animation has improved a lot since Air and the story is similar compared to Air TV too. Both are based off of a popular video game and the drama in the anime is reminiscent of them.

I personally liked this remake more than the original. If you liked Air, check out Kanon.

Aganoth Aganoth says...

Both anime share similarities in plot elements, plot discovery, and animation style. Kanon and Air are both 'Hansel & Gretel-type,' tales: they hook you, then every few episodes they give you just a bit more back-story.

Kanon and Air both revolve around 1 male and more than 1 females, usually younger in age ( -Gao- ).

If you like one, chances are high you will like the other.

seraphiusNoctisbane seraphiusNoctisbane says...

Both Kanon and Air are based on games by Key Visual Arts, and both have that tearjerking emotional response that entertains not only your mind, but your heart as well.

melonjuice melonjuice says...

Kanon 2006 is a full remake of the original Kanon in 2002, but before Kanon 2006, Air TV was created by the same studio. In my opinion, Air TV set the bar for adaptations of romance/comedy visual novels with its high quality animation. Air has one of the best soundtracks to date with a beautiful opening and ending song that many have voted to be one of the best.

Both series are animated by Kyoto Animation and are based on a visual novel by Key. So you will see similarities between the beautiful character designs, the quality animation, the touching story, and good music. These two anime should definitely not be missed.

rockenroll4life rockenroll4life says...

Kanon and Air have a lot of the same characteristics and styles, mostly because they were both developed by the studio "Key". You'll first notice a trend with the characters' personalities, followed by the stories: both revolve around a main male character who has just moved into town, who ends up living with a mother/daughter pair. Both anime also have characters with similar personality types such as a younger girl who seems to dislike the main male character but actually likes him, a shy girl who gives off a very mysterious but interesting aura, and a girl who has a unique and unforgettable catch phrase (such as "Uguu" and "Gao").

Overall both anime share a lot of the same aspects, and if you liked either you'd be able to easily jump into the other and watch it.

vampiresaru vampiresaru says...

Both Kanon and Air are melancholy love stories with a similar flow and style. Some of the same character archetypes and story elements appear in both, but that is not to say they are rehashes of each other. If you are looking for a touching anime that will put you through a range of emotions and ultimately tug at your heartstrings a bit, both of these will be a great watch.

Zerty Zerty says...

Kanon 2006 and Air are made by the same studio, they are both charming love stories, filled with true love, sadness and happiness !

Also, they both have sad parts :( but you will be glad that you watched them and you may even cry and possible smile at the same time.

The scenery is astonishing in both of them, the studio shows that they are good at summer settings (air) and winter settings (Kanon). If you watch them back to back, it gets kinda weird to see the same styles used in different climates, but it works well for them.

In Kanon, you get more connected to the side characters, but in Air you tend to connect to the main character. I've always been a fan of sidekicks, so I fell in love with makoto from Kanon.

Uniflame Uniflame says...

Kanon (2006) and Air are from the same makers and this shows. Both series have the same genre and the same sense of mystery. Therefore you will probably like both: Air and Kanon (2006).

TheJAG TheJAG says...

Kanon (2006) and Air are both by the same studio, and based on visual novels. Both are really emotional and have a mysterious sence about them, if you liked one of them then your shure to like the other aswell.

DeepDragon DeepDragon says...

Driven on a plot based on the past, both anime shows colorful characters that each have a past that they can\'t seem to escape.

Both anime have romance and adventure, as the main characters look into their pasts to see how they can try solve problems that will definitely ensure they can have a future.

Damaged Damaged says...

Both of these anime's are created by Kyoto Animation, so this in turn makes the art very similar. So if you liked the art of one, you will surely like the other. The storylines are very similar as well basing themselves around a mysterious character that has mysterious mannerisms. Both of these anime's will make even the hardest of people feel a little sad, and both of them will play with your emotions, but most importantly, both will make you want more more more!

Nocturnalgloria Nocturnalgloria says...

The same creators are responsible for Air and Kanon and it shows: from the character design to the pacing and plot, these are indeed akin titles that should appeal to a similar fanbase. Both are heartfelt anime that compel the viewer to empathize with he characters. However, Air takes drama to a whole different level and becomes downward tragic while Kanon manages to retain a bitter sweet feeling.

TheHermit TheHermit says...

High production values? Check. Based on highly successful dating sims made by Key? Check. Lots of cute girls acting cute? Check. Drama that seems to take sadistic glee in hitting you where it hurts? Check!

thariinye thariinye says...

It is relatively obvious why you would also like Kanon 2006 if you liked Air: Not only do they have the same original source creators and animators, they both deal with roughly the same subject matter, being some of the best 'dating-sim' adaptations there are. Of the Key-Kyoto Triad (Air, Kanon 2006, and Clannad) Air has the most plot-driven story, Kanon the best slice-of-life and moe, and Clannad currently has the best comedy.

ggultra2764 ggultra2764 says...

Like Air, Kanon centers on a young man who must help several girls overcome their personal problems, many of which involve magical circumstances. Both are emotionally intense and a good watch for seeing the changes that go through the male hero as he helps each girl overcome their problems.

TropicalMist TropicalMist says...

I have to say that I first watched Air, and followed up with Kanon 2006. I LOVED Kanon much more than Air personally (since I wasn't too fond of it to begin with) but even so, these two have so much in common, both in animation and story telling.

The male protaganists themselves are quite different, however I find that their opinions and approaches to situations are similar (especially with the different girls). Perhaps its the direction of the anime, but both leave you with a feeling of hope for the male characters.

If you liked Air, I cannot promise that you'll enjoy Kanon more, but I felt that Kanon gave more time and character developement to the girls (not just one). If you liked that aspect of the anime, definitely watch Kanon 2006!

plannedsea plannedsea says...

Both Air and Kanon follow the same theme... the story keeps going back to when the main characters forgot stuff in the past that were important, however, Air is more elaborately planned at that! And while both anime are guaranteed to bring tears they are definitely an interesting watch with very gripping storylines! They'll have humourous beginings but trust me you'll wanna get that tissue box near you when you reach the later episodes! (especially Air!)

SaiAkuto SaiAkuto says...

Both Air and Kanon were made by the same anime studio. They have therefore a lot of similarities. Either Air or Kanon tell a story of a boy surrounded by girls who try to resolve a secret of his life. Both makes you cry like a child and are very touching especialy when it comes to someone's unhappines.

Biszek Biszek says...

Hmm best word should be "trilogy". That anime have "special" thing in storyline, it's making you felling curious about everything : main characters, their lifestyle, relations ships, you want to watch it more, and more. If you liked Air, you would also like Kanon 2006.

Kuroda Kuroda says...

Kanon and Air are both great anime based off of visual novels by Key. They both pull off drama exellently and show you a great cast of charactes.

Gwape Gwape says...

These two animes have many aspects in common yet they both have diffrent story lines. Each one has a combination of drama, comedy, and maybe a hint of romance. They tend to get sad at the end of the series but don't let that stop you from finishing. They have amazing animation and made by the same studio.

Both animes have interesting charcters whether its Ayuu who says "Uguu" or Misuzu with her love of dinosaurs, "Gao". If you liked one you would like the other.

SousukeSagara SousukeSagara says...

Both series have the same plot. Both series also have a man/boy who is in need of help, and meets this girl who is willing to help. But as the series' unfold it is the man in the end who helps the girl. Also both seires have the snese of strong friendship between the main characters. If you liked air, you will like Kanon 2006.

Anime from same studio ... In both great love stories with dramatic scenes ... Very good characters and GREAT storyline :) Charactres with interesting past ... and even more interesting future ... There is one difference but u should see it on your own ... LOVE , DRAMA , COMEDY what u need more ?? One of the best anime ive ever seen ... If u watched AIR u must se KANON !! :D

xkub4 xkub4 says...

There are mysterious stories with each girl around main male character. Animes are about dream what happens in real. Magic, mystery etc. exist in both animes.

Yuichi and Yukito(male main characters) are same. Making jokes to girls around them, being just normal.

Both are made by the same studio so it means animation, draw and other things what are made by studios are similar.

Merryberry Merryberry says...

Having been created by the same studio, the artistry involved is remarkable meaning that the only thing that you have to worry about is the plotline and story.  However, both of the series pull this off with ease, weaving a tale that is both deep and magical.

Omurqi Omurqi says...

Both Kanon (2006) and Air go over the stories of different girls with their (often supernatural) problems in arcs, with the male lead helping them out. Infact, these shows are so similar in that aspect, that if you'd forget about the small differences in personalities of the main characters, almost all of the arcs could belong to either shows. If you liked the one, definitely give the other a try.

Southrop Southrop says...

Both shows are by Kyoto Animation, KEY and Visual Art's. Combining the brilliant visual novel features into the anime, Kyoto Animation captured the brilliant tear-jerking scenes of the visual novels in both of these anime. Kanon has a deep focus on tragedy, and this is shared in Air. Real heart-breaking moments show up in both anime.

eaper eaper says...

Both of these anime were Key series animated by Kyoto, meaning they both have amazing art work, similar story telling style, and an amazing OST. These are both stories that have several side arcs between the male lead and another female before the main story arc, they both have a lot to do with mystical type occurrences, and they are both, overall, excellent series.

zelos zelos says...

Air and Kanon are the series with i much cry, i don ´t remember another characters like the main characters of these animes. A strange girl a curious man, something stupid that not seems anything become something tragic, physical love don´t be the main theme. Cute girls but not sexy girls i think both of them seems one to the other very much

Lelite Lelite says...

Both has the same magical element, and the characters will give you the same feeling of being attached to them. If you liked one you will probably like the others.

CrimsonSunShine CrimsonSunShine says...

Both Air and Kanon are set up very similarly. A snarky protagonist, strange girls, in a mysterious town, and an ending that will yank your heart out.

Madoka Madoka says...

Dispite both AIR and Kanon are masterpieces from key the two share some very simular plots. In Air although it doesnt feature as much characters it has a very sad plot and ending to the show with events involving misizu wheres the events with ayu reflect very well in the same circumstances. the personality on both yuichi and yukito are simular in there own ways although they also differ very well. The great thing about these two animes is key worked very well with emotional attachment, as in Air- you grow very attached to misuzu and feel sorry for her, as you learn about her life its hard not to but the cute child like personality she posses is addorable, its hard not to like her weres in Kanon, you will have several characters this works on, although non are as strong as misuzu you will find it hard not to grow to love the childish but addorable ayu or shiori misaka (i cried on her story). one thing about the two which key did well is they are both tears breakers, if you have never cried at any tv this will make you do so, i have felt sorry for characters in the past but these 2 both without fail made me cry, so keep tissues close by.

its easy to say if you like one you MUST SEE the other.

Seitaro14 Seitaro14 says...

the similarity between these two souls is amazing, even having seen it before then kanon and air, I felt as if it were air copying failed badly kanon(that is clear, I'm not saying that air and ugly, I'm just saying that there is no comparison between kanon and air) back to the similarities start with the char of characters both good guys who try to help everyone (by chance their help they need only pretty girls younger than he is) the two characters are transferred what else to say good vision for both the anime ...

ZoundX ZoundX says...

These animes are all made by the same company and as such have a 'Very' similar plot, You will notice similar events happening thoughout the anime, However if you enjoyed any of these you will certainly like the others.

pukahuntus pukahuntus says...

Both Kanon and Air are supernatural dramas from Kyoto Animation based on Key games. From the start these animes have the same vibe to them, this is largely due to the simalar artwork and harem theme. However neither of these animes are typical harems due to their combination of drama and abstract backstories to each character. Both these stories feature romance and a mixture of emotional scenes, if you enjoyed one you will very likely enjoy the other.

darczon69 darczon69 says...

Air and Kanon have quite a few things in common, among those:

1) Both storylines contain chapters, each of them focusing on a different girl character

2) Both have a certain degree of tragedy and drama

3) The animation is exquisite, to say the least and the music is divine.

Bvision Bvision says...

Instead of repeating what all other recommendations are saying I'll say this: If you fail to agree with them you have to be mentally challenged. Both are about gaining something and having it ripped away thus very emotional at times and extremely good. Air is a bit older so the animation is a bit weaker but still its very good considering its age.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

In Kanon 2006 and Air the main girls tend to make funny noises; in Air says ‘gao’ and in Kanon she says ‘ayuu.’ There is a fantasy quality to both of them and they have similar animation techniques. There are also quite a few similarities in plot style and detail.

Teleconnetic Teleconnetic says...

you would like this anime becuz they are just like one another.. they have the same atmosphere and they both have those heart warming touching moments... their also pretty sad.. you may cry but in the end youll ove it even more!!

Air TV and Kanon (2006) both have the same kind of artwork and similar characters and genres. I don't want to spoil anything from either anime but if you liked one, you are guaranteed to like the other!

zetazach zetazach says...

Both animes are extremely similiar besides the fact they're from the same studio. They are both about the protagonist coming to a city, meeting girls, and helping them with their problems. Also, in both series, they have a special connection with a certain girl.

Grach Grach says...

Both Air and Kanon ('06) not only feature similar artwork, but also a similar plot as well. Both are dramatic romances that make you care about the characters involved, and leave you wanting slightly more at the end. If you like one, the other is for you!

AngelBeatsYui AngelBeatsYui says...

Well this is a obvious recommendation but still, they both include male protagonist who meet a slightly childish female, then they go through a supernatural storyline. Both are based on visual novels (I think) and they are both harem animes. Finally the style of art are similar, this is why I think if you liked one you would like the other.

One day, however, he meets a lonely-looking girl in the school courtyard, Nagisa Furukawa. She explains to him the source of her loneliness: she had missed a lot of the previous school year and thus is repeating her third year; everybody that she knew has already graduated, and she is lonely. Tomoya is rather indifferent at first, but decides that he has nothing better to do and spends increasingly more time helping Nagisa restore the school drama club. As his relationship with Nagisa grows, Tomoya begins to open up to various other people around the school as well...

Himitsu Himitsu says...

Air TV and Clannad undoubtedly have similar styles. These Kyoto Animation productions have extraordinary artwork. Both series begin quite nicely but there's more to them than meets the eye. In addition, there seems to be an overrepresentation of "Moe" factors; the casts of characters have comparable personalities (I'm not saying they're the same). The main characters are quite indifferent to life, while the main girl is clumsy and naive.

Uniflame Uniflame says...

It may sound cliche, but since both series are from the same makers and have the same mystery about them chances are high that you will like both: Air and Clannad!

Kilplow Kilplow says...

If you like Clannad, you'll also like Air. Both series involve a guy with many girl friends. They differ with the main guy character in Air, not being in school, while Clannad is a strictly school comedy, though in both the guy is primarily focused one a single girl--Air tends to abandon its characters more when their arcs are complete. Kyoto animation does both series, and both are extremely funny--the two pet/mascots are nearly identical, though Air's gets more screen time and therefore is more funny. Finally, Air and Clannad both have very sad parts, as well as the comedy and happy times. A fan of one, is almost certainly a fan of both.

tenkenX6 tenkenX6 says...

First of all, both Air and Clannad are very down to earth, mellow romance series, where the main male character interacts with multiple girls. Secondly, both series are done by the same animation studio, so the artwork and character designs are very similar. And lastly, both series can be considered as "slice of life" anime shows. They both portray events, activities, and things that any person can encounter in their everyday lives. So, in a sense, it feels like you're watching a generalized animated version of real life situations.

serge17 serge17 says...

This anime are similar mostly because of main male characters. Both of them are generally bored with life and doesn't take their future, or anything else seriously....untill....well you have to see. I can say that: If you enjoyed watching one of this anime - you'll won't regret seeing another :)

Both of these series have a fairly similar type of quiet nature about them. They focus on everyday life that isn't full of wacky adventures or battles, but instead have a gentle warmth about them. Both series also place focus on a central female character who has a specific weakness that makes their normal life more difficult and the new young boy in their lives who try to change their lives. While Air has more of a supernatural quality about it, if you liked one of the series, then it may be worth watching the other.

If you liked the slow paced drama and meloncholy of Air, you should also enjoy Clannad (and the After Story).  Personally I didn't much enjoy the ending of Air, I was hoping for a resolution.  Clannad offers a good solid resolution in both seasons, as well as providing you with the same slow-paced drama that was present in Air.  Also like Air, Clannad has some slap-stick and other funny moments, so it's not entirely a heart-wrenching series all the way through.  If you enjoyed Air even a little bit, I seriously recommend that you give Clannad a try.

Sola is a story about the sky and a complicated romance between a"yaka" and a boy. Its premise is similar to Air, involving the similar notions of sacrifice and keeping promises.

samesilvermoon samesilvermoon says...

Both Air and Sola feature kind-hearted guys with caring hearts that they extend to a girl in need. The female characters are loveable and there is much more going on than meets the eye.

Cetonis Cetonis says...

Air and sola both serve as a refreshingly different take on the genre - rather than focusing on romance, much more attention is given to the overall plot. In each of these anime the main character encounters a girl who seems to be cursed in some way, and make an effort to find a way to save her. Both shows have backstories that go hundreds of years in the past, and have plots that opt for a very unconventional direction towards the end. They have their differences - Air is a good bit more dramatic and operates in a story arc fashion, whereas sola actually has action scenes - but in general having the same basic plot structure gives these two a fairly similar feel. If you found one of these to your liking, you may very well enjoy the other as well.

Two very deep and moving stories on an ethereal level that have so much in common, and are yet so different.

If you enjoyed the characterisation and relationships in Air, this is also visible in Sola. Sola, however, takes the magical aspect of Air much further and is deeper rooted in Fantasy.

There are enough similarities and heart warming moments in both shows for people to associate the two, but do not expect them to both go in the same direction.

An anime about people with limited time and feeling solitary as that time passes by.  Sola is much like Air in a certain sense... you sense the futile effots of people extending the time that they don't have.  You sense their frustration and hopelessness and the weight of their curse.

Tarinsa Tarinsa says...

Both Air and Sola are stories of a chance meeting of a boy and girl revealing a strange and mysterious past. Kind and helpful boys, girls with strange secrets, and supriseing twists show up right and left in both! Each series has it's own unique plotline that catches and keeps the views interest.

All in all, both Air TV and Sola are great watches, if you liked one, you will most definately like the other! I would highly reccomend watching both series!

charliechan charliechan says...

Both revole around a dream with the sky and have wonderful art work too. There is more than it seems with both anime as each has it own hidden secrets.

Omurqi Omurqi says...

As the titles suggest, the sky plays an important, though not overly dominant role in both series. Air and sola are both touching, romantic stories about a kind-hearted guy meeting and falling in love with a girl who's involved with the supernatural in one way or another (sola a bit more than Air). Both stories have loyalty, sacrifice and mystery as themes to support the romantic plot. If you enjoyed one of these and are looking for something similar, give this one a shot.

cassiesheepgirl cassiesheepgirl says...

My main reason for recommending both of these series is that they have a very similar feel to them. Both have a mysterious and almost supernatural elemnt to them and both have a similar air of melancholy about them. If you Liked one, then you may enjoy the other.

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse says...

Have you been intrigued by the beauty and the mystery of the sky? That cute sudden girlfriend appearing? The tragedies of those strange curses from the past? Those strangely evolving relations? Did you like that the anime had a length of little more than 10?

Well, that's what these two anime share. So if you liked one, try the other.

triplestrike triplestrike says...

Both of these animes hold onto deep secrets that take a while to crack. They deal mostly with the characters and how important it is that these characters are surronded by the people that surrond them.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

Sola and Air both have a girl that is cursed in some way.  The heroes of each story are kind hearted and have the same outlook with regards to the girls fate.  Both shows have the same type of drama and overall feeling for the viewers.

Madoka Madoka says...

Each Sola and Air have a strong connection between characters and the sky. Both series feature a rather lonely girl with long traced history over time and a rather sad plot behind them.

The series developments are very strong, and instead of focusing as much efforts in romance the series put great amounts of time into plot development which is a big bonus to each series. Each series both have a rather beautiful written style to them and very nice art/animation.

Both offer a similar feel as they move forward, if you are able to appreciate the beauty of either of these series i am certain you will enjoy the other.

ef - a tale of memories

ef - a tale of memories

In a high school setting, there are many people whose stories must be told: Hiro, an aspiring manga artist whose view of the world is "missing a certain color," according to himself; his childhood friend Kei, who is vying for his attention; Kyosuke, a photographer and cameraman who seeks to capture true emotion in his work; the ever-cheerful Miyako, who meets Hiro by chance and immediately becomes attached to him; the gentle Renji, unsure of his aspirations to become a novelist; and Kei's mysterious and quiet sister Chihiro, who seems to be a different person every day. As time passes and they interact with one another more, their paths increasingly intertwine as shades of regrettable pasts emerge.

Nocturnalgloria Nocturnalgloria says...

At first glance ef-a Tale of Memories and Air do not seem to have much in common, the first being more focused on romance while the second deals primarily with tragedy and family ties, however these titles have a similar atmosphere to them. Both are character driven through and through, the interaction between the characters is what advances the plot. These anime are highly emotional in the way they approach human relationships, a stellar soundtrack and flawless animation make them akin in more ways than one. Especially relevant is the attention to detail in the several scenes that feature the sky that are simply gorgeous both in Air and in ef-a tale of memories.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

The anime series Air and Ef ~ A Tale of Memories has the same type of approach to human relationships. Although Ef is a more realistic approach to life in general, Air has the same sense of relationship problems and a longing to find love.

thariinye thariinye says...

While ef is quite a bit more offbeat in its manner than Air, as ef was made by notoriously offbeat animation studio SHAFT, both of these series appeal to those who are looking for the cream of the crop of the much maligned 'dating sim genre.' Both have roughly the same dramatic intensity, both being 12-14 episode series, and thus not diverging from the plot too much with slice of life or comedy.

Toyashi Toyashi says...

They are both very similar, even though Ef is more of a romance they still have the very emotional and sad storyline. They also both tell alot about loneliness and pain.also both Air and Ef contains 12 episodes.

but if you liked Ef then you should watch Air

fizrox fizrox says...

Mostly, the atmopshere, characters, way of telling the story etc is the same in both of these series. But more importantly, the picturesque views of the sky, clouds, stars, dusks and ocean are what is in those anime for you to enjoy while following the enchanting plot.

Kiichigo Kiichigo says...

Both animes are deep and thoughful slice-of-life, but with a darker undertone. While Air is moresupernatural and mysterious, Ef is more 'normal', but they share the same outstanding animation and the delicate touching romance. (both dealing with a 'sick' girl, who is 'saved' by a guy who falls in love with her)

Omurqi Omurqi says...

Both ef memories and Air are romantic dramas with similar themes, like a mysterious illness, memories from the past and a slowly building relationship between main characters. If you enjoyed either of these shows for their way of presenting the drama, give the other a shot as well!

eaper eaper says...

Both of these series are slow paced, have good artwork, great story telling, and good character development. They both have a very strong sense of melancholy in them and are centered around several female leads with similar characteristics.

darczon69 darczon69 says...

Ef - A tale of Memories and Air have quite a few things in common, among those:

1) Interesting plot, with enough questions asked to keep the viewer on his/her toes

2) Superb animation and music

3) Realistic development of the connections between characters

Bronia Bronia says...

Air and Ef go together like peanutbutter and jam. Both have similar animation and soundtracks, and much of the story is remarkably similar. Both focus on people trying to overcome or help others overcome past obstacles to varying success. Both are very dramatic and touching. Air has more elements of fantasy than Ef, but Ef focuses more on love than Air does. There are other similarities that you'll have to watch the shows to find out, of course.

Winterborn Winterborn says...

Both of these anime's are similar in a lot of ways. They both follow parallel story lines featuring female leads who are suffering, and the young men who throw themselves away to help them. Without spoilers it's tough to word but they also revolve around a deaper, more indepth story of hurt and recovery and love that unfurls along with the story (and for Ef, this makes more sense for the second season). They will both make you smile and cry and laugh, and both are absolutely worth watching.I bonded with the characters a bit more in Ef, and Air will tug your heart a bit more. Bring the tissue box for both, but if you liked one of these beautiful stories your heart will melt for the other as well.

Madoka Madoka says...

Both series are alike actually, at first i never realised the connection so i tried watching them side by side and sure enough it was quite clear how alike they are. Each series features a suffering female (or more) and are based around rather sad plots and stories, both are very beautiful stories which i recommend if you like one, giving the other a try. It's not so easy to describe in words (for me) how they are alike but i think you might notice it when you finish them both.

Clannad After Story

Clannad After Story

Summer break is now over; the second semester has started for Tomoya, Nagisa and the others, and little has changed. Since Tomoya's relationship with his father is still troubled, he continues to live with Nagisa and her family, even if it means getting roped into organizing a baseball team for the family bakery. Life at school continues as normal with Sunohara as carefree as ever; however, when his sister Mei voices her concerns about him, the series of events that follow place a strain on Sunohara and Tomoya’s friendship. Whether it's saving a person from themselves or passing on a message from the past, one thing’s for sure: no matter how tough things get, good friends will always be there to help out.

xkub4 xkub4 says...

In both there is thread about other world, mysterious world, magic world. In Clannad AS it is the girl with robot and in Air it is girl with wings. In main story male character is surrounded by girls. In both you can find drama and romance(not that many in Air as in Clannad AS, but it is).

vortex6700 vortex6700 says...

In both series there is a distinct kind of relationship that goes beyond trust and sexual attraction. However, both are also pit up against insurmountable odds and thier dedication seems to blind them to the fact that they cannot succeed. Commitment to a higher whole than themselves seems to be a predominant theme in both of these anime.

quadtrofang quadtrofang says...

Both anime is a pretty much tears-stimulating story... If you love a touching story like air, then you'd definitely would want to watch Clannad After Story and vice versa... I have to admit i was moved my this anime....

Southrop Southrop says...

Both shows are by Kyoto Animation, KEY and Visual Art's. Combining the brilliant visual novel features into the anime, Kyoto Animation captured the brilliant tear-jerking scenes of the visual novels in both of these anime. While Air features less characters than Clannad, both share similar designs and they are certainly worth a watch.

sillyniecy sillyniecy says...

Melourn Melourn says...

Clannad Afterstory and AIR, apart from having very similar tragic themes also alike in that they have beautiful animation. Bottom line- if you liked one or the other then you'll like the other as well. Clannad Afterstory is the continuation of the first Clannad as well as a few side stories, alternate perspectives of the story, as well as a second ending.

WinterSnowfall WinterSnowfall says...

These are two bitter-sweet stories about the harsh road to adulthood and the problems life casts in one's way. The loss of something irreplaceable and how life should go on even after such an incident are themes you will find in both animes.

darczon69 darczon69 says...

Clannad - After Story and Air have quite a few things in common, among those:

1) The romance in both anime is realistic

2) Both anime have a knack for drawing tears

3) Both flesh out their characters in an exquisite manner

Osiummaster Osiummaster says...

Air and clannad are both drama animes from Key, though Air doesn't play in a school environment, and the main male character doesn't have such a hard time with the girl, it still has a lot of drama in it. personally i think Clannad and Air are both very memorable and you won't regret watching either of them.

Labrua Labrua says...

Both of these animes have complex, supernatural storylines, but are also accompanied by drama, humour, and romance. Another similarity between the two is the art. Fantastic.
