What if roller skates had high power engines that enabled the skaters to do stunning new tricks that defy gravity? What if you saw a beautiful girl effortlessly glide through the air with them? To Ikki, this is reason enough to secretly borrow a pair of Air Treck skates, and step into an underground world filled with gang fights and strange customs. Enamored with high-flying stunts and the flirtatious Simca, Ikki forms an Air Treck gang of his own and starts a life of fighting rival gangs and flying over the rooftops, chasing the girl always one kick ahead of him.
In a world where everyone connects to an online network, pudgy Haruyuki Arita can't seem to catch a break. Constantly bullied, afraid to face reality and paranoid his two childhood friends pity him, the teenager uses online games as a way to escape his problems. But things change one day when Haruyuki's beautiful upperclassman Kuroyukihime approaches him with a mysterious time-decelerating program known as Brain Burst - there‘s just one catch. To keep the ability, he must defeat other Brain Burst wielders in Accel World, an exclusive, virtual MMORPG, and the newbie player will need all the help he can get. Eager to prove he's not a pathetic weakling, Haruyuki joins forces with Kuroyukihime to challenge fierce competitors and discover just how incredible Accel World and he truly are.
Both animes are about progressing beyond the main character's initial limitations. The characters are different, but they both end up fighting in groups/guilds/legions over territory. Accel World gave me a vague nostalgia, reminding me of Air Gear a lot. They just each have their own unique flavor.
There are a lot of parallels with the series. The main character starts from nothing and wants to get faster and fly, there is also a similar competition/tournament thing going on.
Air Gear and Accel World share that people can fight when they challange eachother. But instead of using an armour in a videogame they use rollerblades
In the year 2049, teams of giant robots battle the field and race to the finish in the most popular sport in the world, the Immortal Grand Prix! The rookie Team Satomi thinks it has what it takes to win big and get the gold, but plenty of obstacles and opponents stand in the way. Amongst others,Team Black Egg has an invulnerable defense; Team Sledge Mamma plays dirty; and Team Velshtein is undefeatable. In the high stakes arena of the IGPX, can the hotshot Takeshi and his team of miscreants manage to win the ultimate fame and glory?
Air Gear and IGPX both have an incredibly similar tone and feel. In addition to being about a high-action and unusual "sport", each has a unique and techno/hip-hop influenced soundtrack. I'd definitely recommend one to a fan of the other.
Both of these shows are incredible. The each have tons of great action, and a very rare high dosage of character development done "right". I highly recommend both of these shows.
Both are about sports that while they aren't what you would see in the real world they do hold some similarity to some sports that you see everyday. Sports that have been taken to something of an extreme and full of action. If you liked one then you should really consider checking out the other.
After collapsing in the street bloodied and battered, You Satou has no recollection of what happened to him – the only thing he remembers is going to the supermarket to buy a bento lunchbox. After having bizarre encounters the entire following day including a stern warning to stay away from the store, You returns that night to buy dinner. But when he spies the shelf of half-priced bento and reaches out for one, the penniless teen finds himself thrust into a world where the rush to get a good deal becomes an epic battle in which only the strongest survive…
A normal kid, just minding his buiness, gets involved in a competition that he had no clue about. So upon trying it, he quickly excels and gains the respect of his peers as well as the girl at the top of the food chain that he lusts after; if only his bad luck and perverse tendencies did get him into so much trouble.
Even so, win or lose, he's gonna try his best and not take any short cuts to the top, becaise if he didn't give his all, it wasn't worth doing!
So, am I talking about Satou or Ikki? Why don't you watch the other one and see for yourself.
Both are about a guy who gets caught in a crazy compition where people fight over something that most people don't usually fight about. Of course the main character is naturally good at it an excells at a crazy speed. Still both Ben-To and Air Gear are highly entertaining.
Japan has reclaimed its former glory under the guidance of Kings, charismatic individuals wielding incredible powers. But now, one of the Red King's vassals has been murdered, and a viral video shows the killer's confession at the scene. He is one Yashiro Isana, claiming to be the Colorless King; and he is now a wanted man - not only to the Red King's faction, but also the Blues charged with keeping the peace. He is even sought by Kuroh Yatogami, a knight of the former Colorless King sworn to slay any unworthy successor. Only, the subject of their struggle, "Shiro", is a nondescript young man living an unremarkable life in an island academy, and seems to have no recollection of killing anyone. To keep his life, Shiro must prove his innocence; but what is the truth behind his mysterious past, and what will be the outcome of this confrontation of Kings?
Both anime have a similar set-up by rank. Kings rule over groups and they fight with each other.
Both series revolve around a set of kings ruling over certain terroritory and groups that fight amongst each other. The major difference is that the main character of Air Gear, Ikki actually takes part in the fighting where as the MC of K, Yashiro does not. While K is more superpower based, Air Gear is more based around extreme physics.
Naruto Uzumaki is a young ninja who bears a great power hidden inside him, a power that has isolated him from the rest of his village. As such, his only dream is to become the Hokage - the most powerful ninja, and leader of the village; but first he needs to graduate! With his inability to perform even the most basic ninja techniques, it seems that all Naruto has going for him is his determination to succeed no matter what. Teamed up with the genius Sasuke, book-smart Sakura, and their team leader Kakashi, Naruto embarks on his quest to become the Hokage. But with outside forces posing a threat to the entire Hidden Leaf village, Naruto discovers that he must become much stronger if he ever wants to realize his dream and protect the friendships he's forged.
Naruto and Air Gear seem to be, at first glance, from two opposite ends of the spectrum. In reality though, they're alot alike in plot, characters and even artwork (to an extent). The story of both is the main protagonist who (at the beggining) is a total misfit that knows nothing about anything, creating real problems for them. But with the help of 3 other MAIN friends (yes, even the numbers are the same) they learn to get better and are both striving for the top (In Ikki's case, Sky King, in Naruto's case Hokage) and come closer and closer with each passing episode. In both anime you watch the characters grow and are easily able to connect with them. Though Naruto doesn't have the Ecchi of Air Gear and Air Gear doesn't have the weapons of Naruto, they're very similar with plot (like I just explained) and they both have solid fight scenes (though Naruto's are more intense and longer, While Air Gear has more of a street fighting esq to it thats more "Get it done and win quickly") They both have their funny moments that'll have you and your friends laughing forever (well hopefully not that long, but you get the point.) Really the main difference is (besides what the characters are trying to accomplish) that Air Gear is made for a slightly older audiance (13-16 and up) because of the Ecchi and swearing where as Naruto is made for people around the age of 11-13 and up, since there's no swearing in the dub, and very little in the sub (save for moments of extreme perril) and all the nudity is covered up. These anime go together like Red and Black, like Cookies and Milk, like...like...well I'm running out of analogies, but they go together very well and if you enjoyed one, its a MUST to watch the other.
them both series is about the main character wants to be the best, it also has a little dirty parts in itself, both series also has special abilities and talents
