If you like sports anime that mix comedy with the often melodrama that come naturally to sports stories then both these anime should feel very familiar to you. Teamwork, love of the sport, the fight to be the best are all important themes in both of these shows. 

The big difference is Haikyuu is actually sucessful at drawing you into the experience and does all of those things I just listed much better. Ace of Diamond isn't nearly as well written as Haikyuu. Ace doesn't have the a likable cast and it has one of the most unlikable leads in last year of anime. 

But if you do enjoy Ace of Diamond then you will love Haikyuu.

Both Haikyuu and Ace of the Diamond have main characters who have a natural talent unknown to them at first but after getting to high school work hard to become national champions. Added that both characters really don't know how to give up and want to be the star of the team.

Both series follow a high school sports team as they work hard through the ups and downs of reaching the top. The main characters are loud and fun but work at their strongest when paired with their "partner" who, despite clashing personalities, draw out the best potential with equal parts being mean and encouraging. The secondary characters all have their own personalities and can steal the spotlight just as easily with the skills they posess.

Both of the main characters start off as the only amazing player on a sub par team then they get thrown into a top teir team and have to work their way up the ladder.

If you want some realistic sports anime without super powers, like Kuroko no Basket, I strongly recommend this two anime - Haikyuu!! and Ace of Diamond (Diamond no Ace)

Main characters have very similar personalities between both shows. Similar feel and themes. Shows have a lot in common other than the different sport. If you like Haikyuu, you'll like Ace of the Diamond.

They both have very similar MCs. 

their both supper energetic. Their personalities are very similar over all. But the feel of the anime is different in the way that Haikyuu has a more serious feel to it, AOD has a very energetic and more funny side to it. In AOD characters are just a lot more energetic and outgoing which makes it have a funnier and relaxed side to it.

Both MCs work very hard though to be the best, in Haikyuu the MC works hard to prove how he can play through his perception of being bad because of his height in that way in AOD the MC also works very hard to prove himself. in AOD he is a great player but he is not consistent and has little experience so he works hard to prove himself.

Bothe MCs work ethic is admirable since they keep going even through their setbacks.

They are both about an athlete who has a lot of natural talent however hadn't had the facilitys to prove and improve themsleves. At the beginning of both anime's they needed a lot of help from their seniors and a partner who could bring out all of their raw talent. They both realise their flaws and try to overcome them throughout both of the animes. They are both very real and tap in with emotions that everyone will have had at some point in their lives with struggling, the pain of defeat, fights with other people as well as the highs of success and winning. There is also the slow climb to the top to try and get to where both the schools used to be. The MC's both have very similar goals both with being the 'ace' of the team in respect to their sports. They have the desire to improve and will try and grasp their asperations no mater what the costs and both will try and get past any walls that come their way no matter what.

Both series tell the stories of highschool baseball pitchers. While Sawamura in Ace of the Diamond is flamboyantly self-assured though lacking control, Ren in BigWindup! (Ookiku Furikabutte) has developed remarkable pitch control but has never believed in himself for reasons explored. The protagonists of both stories develop as individuals through being part of the team. I personally find Ace of the Diamond far more compelling, but other viewers could easily feel just the opposite.

The phasing of the anime is a bit slow but you will definitely see every characters' development. You'll sure get excited and at the same time nervous at every episode.

Both Anime has Interesting & Likeable.. Characters & MC..has some similarities which is why..Worth Watching..Both Anime has Grove & Gives Want to Sport Vibe..Worth Watching

If you liked Moshidora you would like Ace of Diamond because they are both about Baseball and both of the main characters love baseball even though some of them won't admit it out lound.

These are both baseball anime about losing teams trying to turn their record around. Although they may use different methods to do so, at their heart a bunch of characters that love the game of baseball. Both series mix in some comedy to go with the drama.

These anime are about different sports but they both tell the same kind of inspirational underdog story. Both anime are about teams that are down on their luck, but try to fight through it together. Each team has a leader that's can be both insipiring on the field and a complete idiot off of it.

Both these anime are pretty typical sports stories so if you like cheesy inspirational stories with a bit of comedy then try either of the shows.

Both shows tell the tale of an underdog who comes good through hard work, perseverence and working well with team mates. The main character in each is the inspiration type who people rally around, and get pumped up by.

They don't stray too far outside the box with regards the usual sports forumla, but if you are a fan of sports then you could do worse than watch either of these.

These are both sports anime about underdogs with big hearts learning to love their chosen sport. The sports may be different, but the themes are and character types are very similar. 

Hajime no Ippo is about boxing whereas Ace of Diamond is about Baseball so the sports are quite different, but both take the same approach of building their characters through rigorous training and learning from their experiences during games or matches. Both anime show the value of hard work and training while also adding a strong lesson about the role of willpower and courage. 

Hajime no Ippo is hands down the superior anime with better characters, better fights, better plot and more satisfying development. Ace of Diamond is a much more generic anime that follows the pattern of every underdog story that's ever been written. Ippo is also a much more likable protagonist than Ace of Diamond's Sawamura. 

However, if you love sports or sports anime, or even if you're looking for an inspirational story then you should try these titles.

Eventhough the shows are about different kind of sports they have the same feeling to it, beeing that the potagonists keep going by willpower and great effort

Both anime are about a team sport. Each player has their own talents and reason for wanting to play. There are lots of different personalities, and they don't always work well together. Both work well for people who don't know very much about the sport. The difference is Ace features a top tier school and Eyeshield is a rag tag team of underdogs, but there are still characters you are rooting for in both series.

Humour, character development, emotion.  By watching both I hade similar enjoyment. Anime makes you want keep watching to see how they develop and, if they bee able to achieve gools.

Each of these shows are animated by the same studio, so there are similarities in the way it's animated, written and in the feel of the show. And even though the sports are different, it's likely fans of one will enjoy the other.

They share in the common theme of getting along with, and working alongside your team mates to get the very best out of each and every performance. There's also a fair bit of comedy in each, but it never detracts from the sport at hand.

While the sports are different both these anime are about the value of team work and tell an underdog story. Both anime start with the teams being kind of crappy until they can start working together. They're both inspirational underdog stories.

Both anime have their fair share of comedic moments to liven up the bits where they aren't playing their sport. If you like stories about an underdog fighting to win through teamwork then you should try these anime.

Both of the series are about baseball.  Cross Game is a much more laid back series than Ace of the Diamond, but it's just as much fun watching the main characters work towards their goals.  Cross Game starts out when the main character is small, but after the first episode we get shoved into the Koshien hunt like all the other baseball shows.

Both anime are about high school boys who are passionate about the sport they love. There are lots of different personalites and different approaches to the sport. From seasoned veterans to newcomers to those who don't care about anything but the sport they love. Both have a mix of humor and melodrama.
