If you liked the Accel World anime, the Anime-Planet community thinks you'd like:
Athletic Mato is excited to start middle school and meet new people, including Yomi, an artistic girl who doesn't open up easily to others. While awkward around each other at first, things change when the girls discover their mutual obsession for a fantastical picture book. But just as the pair becomes fast friends, they're torn apart by a cruel, wheelchair-bound girl who considers Yomi her personal possession and refuses to let anyone else near her. What's worse, Mato has recently begun to have strange dreams about girls brawling in bizarre colorful worlds that seem to parallel her personal struggles. With jealousy, insecurity, and foreboding dreams always getting in the way, can the two girls ever become true friends?
The "other world" is a dark Gothic place filled with only a few places of light and bright colors. The "avatars" are other selves representing what one wants to throw away based on their human desires and scars. There is also a lot of action and the characters are in themselves interesting.
In a futuristic world, the virtual world is merely a layer on top of reality; within it, cyberpets are abundant and information is plentiful, and it is only visible by wearing special cyberglasses. In Daikoku City, this cyberspace is behaving strangely: cyberpets are going missing, dark entities known as "the Illegal" roam obsolete space that shouldn’t exist, and a large pink antivirus program known as Satchii wanders the streets, attacking both virus and pets alike. Sixth grader Yuko Okonogi has just moved to Daikoku City, and after cyberdetective children help her rescue her lost dog, she soon joins the others in a search for the truth behind these strange occurances.
If you liked the aspects of either show that involved whole-body-experience virtual realities, then give the other a shot. In both shows, the main characters have to solve problems and win fights that involve their opponents bending the rules of those cyber-realities, exploring the meaning and limits of friendship along the way.
Seven kids are enjoying their summer when suddenly, a digivice appeared before them, and the next thing they know, they are in the "Digiworld." There, they meet creatures known as digimon. There are evil digimon in the Digiworld, but they are not bad in nature; rather, most of them have been turned evil by nefarious forces. Each child had a digimon waiting for them in the Digiworld; and though not all Digimon are strong, the digivice that the seven kids carry has the ability to allow their Digimon partner to evolve into a stronger type. Together, they will going to embark on a journey to save the Digiworld from pure evil and darkness!
both accel world and digimon involve a number of kids having to fight in a digital world. in accel world though the kids are the ones fighting but in digimon they have partners that fight for them. both animes see the main characters trying to defeat the "leaders" in each world, in accel world its the Legion kings and in digimon its the Dark Masters. if you liked digimon and wish to see a more grown up/mature version then you would probably like accel world aswell.
Like most boys his age, the young Renton thinks of nothing but reffing – riding trapar waves on a board – and idolizes Holland, the leader of the renegade group of reffers named Gekko State. As an orphan of a famous hero, he lives a boring life with his grandfather until the beautiful Eureka crashes, literally, into his life. Now, with the help of his newfound friend and crush, Renton finds himself living amongst the crew of Gekko State. The errands are hard and the bullying is fierce, but with Eureka by his side, Renton just might find the courage to tough it out and even save the world!
Both are ostensibly shounen titles in a science fiction setting with stylized mecha action and a romantic bent. Accel World has an obvious harem approach to the romance, where Eureka Seven focuses on a single relationship in great and heartwarming depth. Both shows involve intrigue and drama on multiple levels and a long standing overarching story.
These sci-fi anime are about massively popular (VR)MMOs and a main character meeting a very mysterious player, eventually having his/her life turned upside down as a result of meeting/becoming friends with said person. Another trait they have in common is focusing on both the game and the problems of the real world directly caused by either "The World" MMO or the Accel World.
