Both School Days and Winter Garden are (or at least start off as) light hearted romance animes, but touch on darker themes (although one much more prominently than the other). If you liked one, you might just like the other.

DNA²

DNA²

In the future, mankind faces a terrible dilemma: overpopulation! The origin of this epidemic has been traced to one young man named Junta who, in his time period, is destined to become the Mega-Playboy who fathers 100 children (though currently, he vomits uncontrollably whenever a woman gets near him!). Karin is a DNA Operator who has been sent back in time to put a stop to the budding playboy's hormones, but accidentally becomes the cause of his transformation! As if things couldn't get worse, is Karin actually... falling in love with Junta?!

If you liked this anime, you're sure to love the other. Why? Both are stories about womanizers, love triangles, affairs, and drama. And you have to admit, those kind of stories are pretty deep. So check out the other anime today, because it's as good as this one.

The story of Yu Himura and Yuko Amamiya’s relationship is troubled and complex. One day, Yuko showed up at Yu's high school and, despite the two not having seen one another for ten years, confessed that Yu was her first love and still loves him. In the present, Mizuki Hayama moves in with her cousin as she prepares to begin high school. She meets his smooth and handsome neighbor, Shuichi Kuze, and begins spending increasing amounts of time with him; they begin to fall for one another despite their age difference. The tale of these relationships thus begins to unfold.

Both series deal with the more serious and painful side of high school romances that can be very difficult to watch.

School Days and H20: Footprints in the Sand are both harem anime that bring a psychological aspect to the genre.  They both have unexpected plot twists that keep the viewer interested throughout the anime.

Hyakko

Hyakko

Kamizono Academy is so spacious that transfer student Ayumi Nonomura and long time resident Tatsuki Iizuka find themselves lost together in the corridors. With the addition of fiery Torako Kageyama and quirky, somber Suzume Saotome, the four quickly become friends and comrades in arms against boredom. Whether it's being a last minute Morals Officer with bisexual Nene or constructing robots with Kageyama, there's plenty of fun to go around at Kamizono Academy!

This one might seem a little odd, but if you liked Setsuna's character, Suzume from Hyakko is quite similar in personality, so check her out.
