Chaos;HEAd

Chaos;HEAd

Takumi is a reclusive otaku who wants nothing more than to be left alone to play online games and watch anime. He only attends the minimum necessary to pass his classes, and rarely leaves his cramped room except to purchase the newest figurines. One evening, while Takumi is chatting online with his friend "Grim," a stranger called "Shogun" joins the channel and, after "Grim" leaves, posts a series of disturbing photographs depicting a man impaled to a wall with metal stakes. The following day, Takumi is horrified when he wanders into an alley and once again sees Shogun’s images – but this time, the gruesome scene is reality. From then on, Takumi sees the world through a new set of eyes; imaginary delusions meld with reality, and he isn't sure who he can trust. With suspicions and confusion at every turn, Takumi must struggle to determine what's going on - but most importantly, whose eyes are those eyes?

Chaos;Head and 11 Eyes are exceedingly akin. In both we have a male lead surrounded by a female harem with varying degrees of usefulness regarding the plot. Magical swords, battles, girls running back and fro and an attempt at creating suspense reign supreme. As it turns out, the main character has some sort of power upon which salvation rests. With this said, Chaos;Head is not as fanservice stocked as its very ecchi counterpart 11 Eyes.

femcore femcore says...

11eyes and Chaos;Head share some similar themes that make them go together well. Both stories involve magical swords that only a select few can use, they both deal with a male lead character surrounded by women, and both have a small amount of psychological tricks on the viewer. If you are a fan of either, then I highly recommend seeing the other.

penguinkidkyri penguinkidkyri says...

If you liked one, you will like the other because they are both alike in the psychological way of how the characters think. Both have a side of romance, some hectice battle scenes, and plot twists. If you liked the craziness of one you will like the caziness of the other.

neutrino neutrino says...

The premise and atmosphere of both are pretty similar.  They involve teenagers realizing that there is more than what they see around them, and fighting in an unknown world against mysterious enemies.

scizorg45 scizorg45 says...

In both anime there is a world beside the normal world we live in, where teenagers fight their battles with other dudes in that world. If you liked one, check out the other.

The similarities between the two animes are quite uncanny. Although the main characters are quite different, one being a hikikomori (chaos;head). The general vibe of the animes are similar too. If you enjoyed one you'll probably enjoy the other.

To put it simply, if you liked 11eyes as i did, you'll defo like chaos;head :)

Enjoy

Chaos;Head is a better romance/thriller version. Not as cookie cutter as 11eyes. Theming is very similar, but don't go too crazy over it. If you thought 11eyes was okay, don't expect much more from Chaos;Head.

Bestanimeserie Bestanimeserie says...

Besides the fact the both shows are based off a visual novel and the character cast is also pretty similar.

Both male main characters get sucked into a world they never knew of and have to find their own power to defeat evil, these anime are both pretty dark and chaotic. (guess the name chaos head heh.)

Other things that are quite similar is that both male's are in a harem like situation both shows have magical swords and they both feature a bit of romance, so if you liked one you'll also like the other.

Knyffen Knyffen says...

In both Chaos;HEAd and 11eyes the male protoganist is surrounded by girls with fighting potential and past traumas. The male protoganist is targeted because of a special power that has yet to awaken making him weak while carrying the key to the enemy's plan.

hamletsmage hamletsmage says...

Both of these anime feature a male lead and a group of women that have powers that they use against a sort of parallel world. Both anime are a tad confusing at times, due to the psychological aspect. One is a bit more harem-y than the other, but with all the fighting, strange monsters, and interesting weapons, you probably won't notice the difference.

If you like one, try out the other.

Shakugan no Shana

Shakugan no Shana

Sakai Yuuji thought he was a normal high school student, until one fateful day when time stopped. Watching in horror, he witnesses a monster devouring the "frozen" people around him; but luckily for Yuuji, he is saved by a sword-wielding red-headed girl that calls herself a "Flame Haze". The girl informs him that he has been dead for some time now and that his current self is merely a replacement for the human that he used be while alive. He is, she says, merely a torch whose life will come to an end when the blue flame in his chest ceases to burn. After this rude awakening, Yuuji realizes that he is able to see the flames of life in other "torches"; and after discovering that a friend of his is also a torch -- and her life is burning out faster than his – he gains the courage to live out the rest of his life with meaning. Will Yuuji be able to find his place in the world before he ceases to exist?

Both of these titles are very similar in feel and characters. Misuzu (11eyes) and Shana (Shakugan no Shana) both wield swords and have to fight off a seemingly infinite hord of monsters in a different world. The Red Night in 11eyes can be compared to the Fuzetsu that are always setup before battles.

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse says...

When his world suddenly becomes red dark, a common school boy gets caught up in a fight with demons he has never seen before. He is saved by a girl with a magical sword, but after the fight is over, the world turns back to normal and his normal life continues, so it seems. This phenomenon is however reoccurring and luckily the girl is staying at his side. But there's more behind than just swaying swords: we also see love with jealousy and that he wants to fight too, but first needs to develop his skills.

That applies to both these series, so if you like one, you doubtlessly like the other.

TropicalMist TropicalMist says...

After watching both anime, I can see why people feel that both anime are similar.  They both have very similar settings (with a different "world" and sword-wielding girls and the awkward harem).  Although plot isn't identical, they both focus on high school students and their problems dealing with everyday life and monsters trying to kill them.

If I was honest, I enjoyed SnS more (because it's 2 seasons long and had time to flesh out the characters), whereas 11eyes had very cardboard cut-out characters.  11eyes had a more original plot though and clearly executes it's story well from beginning to finish whereas SnS is still unfinished.

MissNothing MissNothing says...

Both of the anime include a red-headed girl with a sword who fights creatures and such. Although 11eyes is shorter, and possibly for more older people, I think most people who liked Shakugan no Shana would like it (or the other way round). The genres are pretty much the same.

Bestanimeserie Bestanimeserie says...

Both shows are fighting in a diffrent dimension in shana it's the fujutsu and in 11eyes they go to a dimension where time has stopped. Both shows have a "slice of life" part and a action part both shows also have a bit of romance so if you liked one you'll most likely like the other too. Also both shows feature swordplay.

YuiYui YuiYui says...

Both animes contain a female who uses some sort of sword to fight off demons. Another thing is the red night in 11eyes, it reminds me of the space that appears when shana is fighting the demons, in a way. Finally quite a few of the main characters in both have magic powers in some way. So if you liked one you should like the other.

Night Wizard

Night Wizard and 11eyes have a number of similarities that I think make for a good recommendation. At their very basic, both series involve students who are forced to fight against supernatural enemies at random times. Along the way they forge friendships that allow them to overcome their difficulties. If you liked one, I would check out the other.

neutrino neutrino says...

When I first started watching 11eyes, I was immediately reminded of Night Wizard. The two premises and characters are really alike.  If you like stories with teenagers getting thrown into situations where they discover they have some hidden power, and forced to fight for reasons they don't know, give either of these a try.

Zaig Zaig says...

Let’s start at the very beginning--and I mean, the VERY beginning, as in the openings. If I had more proof, I would annoyingly tell everyone besides just my friends that 11 Eyes “stole” Night Wizard’s opening animation. Moving on, both of these anime are similar in the following exactly: are about some high school students who have been fighting since who knows when AND about some high school students who are brand new to fighting with powers; the main character changes his or her eye color from time to time. Also, whenever enemies appear, a red moon suddenly manifests itself into a scarlet sky, letting all characters aware of a battle with machinated demons from another world will subsequently follow. If you appealed to either 11 Eyes or Night Wizard, check out its crimson shadow.

Interlude

Interlude

In Japan, there is a disturbing rumor being spread that people's shadows are ripping from their bodies, never to be seen again. For one young man, the frightening nature of this rumor is just beginning to manifest in the form of a nightmarish world that he can't seem to escape from. In this place full of dark minions and demons, he and his friends fight futilely against unknown enemies, only to be brought back to the "real world" as quickly as they left it. Is this real, or a dream? Only one person holds the key to destroying and saving the world as he knows it...

sothis sothis says...

11eyes strongly reminded me of Interlude in basically all ways - the transporting to another 'world' filled with monsters to fight, the random bouts of ecchi, and the dark and mysterious tone. Definitely check out one if you liked the other.

MalteseFalcon MalteseFalcon says...

When watching 11eyes I was constantly reminded of another series. I couldn't quite remember at the time which it was, but then it came to me: Interlude.

The core plot of a group of individuals bouncing back and forth between the real world and a shadow world containing monsters, as well as the fact that the fate of the world really rests in the hands of one person is obviously the main connection.

In addition, just the tone and pacing of the two is just so, so similar that I know if you enjoyed one of these series you will like the other.

Fate/stay night

Fate/stay night

The Holy Grail War is a battle between seven magicians who each summon a mythical hero to fight for their cause. Shirou, a twice orphaned high school boy, had so little magical talent that his foster father did not bother teaching him about the war and its meaning. Thanks to that lack of foresight, Shirou finds himself in a bit of a pinch when he accidentally summons a hero of the strongest class, and is sucked into the fray. The Grail grants the winner any wish they have. But driven by an unyielding sense of justice and self-sacrifice, for what will Shirou fight?

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse says...

Well, both series show great resemblance, so if you like one, definitely try the other:

we have a fantasy in which a boy is pulled into a magical war fought by mostly teenage girls, besides his continuing life at school. The fights are mostly fought in an ambience of (relative) mid-darkness and also the weapons are comparable. He gets help from a girl coming from a family of magicians and who is also a participant in the war. And the evolution of love among the warriors is also a little part of the plot.

neutrino neutrino says...

Both series are based on eroge (visual novels) and definetely show it.  Plot-wise, they are similar in that a fantasy world involving war is suddenly thrust on the main characters, and they must choose how to survive in their new world.

Fighting in worlds other than their own is one aspect that makes these two anime so similar.  One day the main characters suddenly find themselves running for their life in an alternate dimension but eventually come back.  Also the characters find out the truth about themselves, but it's nothing that they would have ever thought of.  These aspects make them all the more exciting and suspenseful.

Akunen Akunen says...

Monochrome Factor and 11eyes have similarities in the battle aspect: monsters from another world are attacking, and the characters have their own special item that allows them to fight these monsters. The plot in 11eyes is heavier than that of Monochrome Factor, but you just might like one if you liked the other.

Both 11eyes and Mirai Nikki center around a group of people thrown into a survival "game." Also, in both, there is a girl who's obsessed with only the main character. The girl also has a split personality case and is willing to do anything for the boy.

Practically everything there is to like about Mirai Nikki can be found in 11 eyes as well. Mirai Nikki is probably the better show because there are more episodes which make for a deeper storyline. If you liked either one, you'll definitely like the other.

Pandora Hearts
